If you cancel your trip due to one of the policy’s listed covered reasons, the Trip Cancellation benefit can provide 100% reimbursement of your insured prepaid and non-refundable trip costs.
The most common covered reason is cancellation due to unforeseen sickness, injury or death of you, your traveling companion, or non-traveling family member. Other reasons include Hurricane and Weather, Terrorism, Cancel For Work Reasons, Financial Default, and Employment Layoff.
In order for you to be covered, you must meet the benefit’s requirements. For example, in order to be covered for Terrorism, most policies require that the terrorist attack occurs within a certain amount of days of your departure date and that the attack is declared an act of terrorism by the U.S. Department of State. Each policy’s specific covered reasons and requirements can be found in the Policy Detail and policy certificate.
Trip Cancellation policies can be purchased up until the day before your departure. Coverage begins at 12:01am local time the day after the policy is purchased.
