When can I buy travel insurance to cover an earthquake?

Last Updated:

You can buy travel insurance with coverage for earthquakes up until the day before your departure date.

Most policies with Trip Cancellation include Hurricane & Weather benefit, which can reimburse a traveler for their prepaid and non-refundable trip expenses if they are unable to travel because of unforeseen inclement weather, such as an earthquake. In order for a traveler to be covered, they must meet their policy’s specific requirements for coverage.
