Position Statement from CSA on the Japan Airlines Bankruptcy

Travel insurance companies release position statements when current events affect coverage.  The following is a position statement from CSA Travel Protection on the Japan Airlines Bankruptcy.

Japan Airlines Corp filed for bankruptcy protection on Tuesday, January 19, 2010.  The airline will remain in the skies with the help of a state-backed fund, however, they will go through restructuring under a new board and management.  Certain CSA Travel Protection plans offer coverage for some effects of bankruptcy, financial default and/or financial insolvency.  Customers are strongly encouraged to read their Certificate of Insurance or Insurance Policy for details regarding their available coverage.  For those plans that do offer coverage for bankruptcy, financial default and/or financial insolvency, please note that there is no coverage for this specific event under any plans purchased on or after January 19, 2010.
