Position Statement from CSA on Tropical Storm Colin

Published by August 3, 2010

Travel insurance carriers release position statements when current events affect coverage.  Most commonly, when tropical storms and hurricanes are named, new policies purchased will not cover existing named storms.  The following is a position statement from CSA on Tropical Storm Colin.

Tropical Storm Colin

8/3/2010

2010’s Tropical Depression Four is now Tropical Storm Colin.  The National Hurricane Center says the storm has maximum sustained winds near 40 mph, and some slow strengthening is expected.  Forecasters predict this storm will remain out of the Gulf of Mexico, but it is too early to tell if it will make landfall on the US Atlantic seaboard.  Certain CSA Travel Protection plans offer coverage for some effects of adverse weather and natural disasters.  Customers are strongly encouraged to read their Certificate of Insurance or Insurance Policy for details regarding their available coverage.  For plans that do offer coverage for adverse weather and natural disasters, please note that there is no coverage for this specific storm under any plans purchased on or after August 3, 2010.  Please contact CSA Travel Protection with questions.
