Travel insurance carriers release position statements when current events affect coverage.  The following is a position statement from CSA Travel Protection on the ash cloud affecting flights in Ireland.

Another Volcanic Ash Cloud

5/3/2010

The Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) has announced a suspension of flights in and out of Ireland for six hours on Tuesday as another Icelandic volcanic ash cloud passes through their airspace.  Restrictions are imposed from 7:00am BST to 1:00pm BST.  As with the Icelandic volcanic eruption in April, CSA considers this event to be adverse or inclement weather.  Certain CSA Travel Protection plans offer benefits for some effects of adverse or inclement weather.  Customers are strongly encouraged to read their Certificate of Insurance or Insurance Policy for details regarding their available coverage.  For plans that do offer coverage for adverse or inclement weather, please note that there is no coverage for this specific eruption under any plans purchased on or after May 3, 2010.  Please contact CSA Travel Protection with questions.
