Covid-19

Can I cancel my policy if my trip was cancelled because of coronavirus?

Last Updated:

Short Answer

If your insured trip was cancelled because of coronavirus (COVID-19), you may be able to cancel your travel insurance policy and receive reimbursement or a voucher for your premium.

More Detail

Every travel insurance policy includes a Money Back Guarantee period, typically 10-14 days immediately after you purchase your policy.  If your trip was cancelled during this period, you may cancel your policy for a 100% refund.

If your trip was canceled because of coronavirus and you did not incur any penalties, please contact your travel insurance provider directly as soon as possible to see how they are accommodating. Many providers are working directly with customers to find solutions, including moving coverage or using their premium for a future trip.

All requests received are treated as exceptions. While a specific outcome can never be guaranteed, all providers are doing what they can to assist where possible.
