How much coverage do you recommend for repatriation?
Repatriation is typically included in the Medical Evacuation benefit. We generally recommend at least $100,000 of Medical Evacuation coverage when traveling internationally, or $250,000 in coverage if you are going on a cruise or traveling to a remote location.
Repatriation will cover the cost to transport a deceased person’s remains to their home, and is included within the Medical Evacuation benefit on most policies. For the Medical Evacuation benefit, we typically recommend $100,000 for international travel, or $250,000 in coverage if you are going on a cruise or traveling to a remote location.
Policies typically cover repatriation up to the full amount of the Medical Evacuation benefit. However, some policies will also include a separate limit specifically for repatriation of remains. The policies that include this limit often provide $10,000 to $20,000 for repatriation, which is ample coverage.
