My policy says I’m covered for “inclement weather”. What does this mean?
Most Trip Cancellation policies include coverage for a hurricane or inclement weather that causes your trip to be cancelled or interrupted. Additionally, a delay due to inclement weather can be covered by the Travel Delay and Missed Connection benefits.
Inclement weather refers to severe or harsh weather conditions that cause common carrier delays, often resulting in cancelling or interrupting your trip.
Policies that include coverage Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption for inclement weather typically require your common carrier to be delayed for a specific amount of time before the Trip Cancellation benefit will provide coverage. The most lenient policies include coverage in the event of a delay for any length of time that it caused by inclement weather. In order to be eligible for this benefit, the policy must be purchased before the storm is named.
Additionally, the Travel Delay and Missed Connection benefits can provide coverage if you are delayed due to inclement weather for the amount of time specified on the policy.
