After Buying a Policy

If I decide to not go on my trip, can I get a refund for my policy or apply my policy to a different trip?

Short Answer

If you decide not to take the trip you have insured, you may be able to receive reimbursement for your premium or apply your coverage to a different trip.

More Detail

Every travel insurance policy comes with a Money Back Guarantee, a period of time after purchase during which you can cancel your policy and receive a refund of the premium. This “Free Look Period” is typically 10-14 days following the day you purchase the policy.  Many International Medical policies offer a Money Back Guarantee until you depart for your trip.

If the Money Back Guarantee period has already ended, cancelling your policy will be considered by the insurance provider on a case-by-case basis. Some providers will automatically provide a pro-rated refund, however, please note a refund is not guaranteed. The provider may also provide you with an option for a credit to be used for a future trip.

Alternatively, please note, if your trip must be cancelled due to one of your policy’s covered reasons, you can file a Trip Cancellation claim to be reimbursed for your insured trip costs.

This information can vary based on the travel insurance policy. Please review the policy certificate to verify coverage.
