IMG Travel Insurance Reviews

We unfortunately had to cancel our trip to Morocco due to a medical symptom that surfaced that needed to be diagnosed and if needed treated. This was my first claim of this kind so I was wary about the process given the reputation of travel insurance companies and some of the reviews from people who submitted claims. To my surprise, the claims process with IMG went relatively smoothly. I did need to submit the information multiple times and know now to highlight/label the specific information requested on the documents so the detail requested was self-evident. And I also found out that receipts from travel companies were insufficient and need to be accompanied by the actual credit card statement highlighting each cost relevant to the claim. I also learned that in the medical certificate not only needed the reasons for not traveling but that I was healthy and "travel ready" at the time of purchase of the insurance. I had to bother my doctor twice for two documents. Having had this experience, I'll be better prepared if I need to make a claim in the future. When submitting documentation, the IMG staff are good at getting back to you indicating that the information was received and listing out what additional information is required. It is a process that does take time - just be patient and provide the specific information requested as many times as requested. Be as explicit as possible.

All my questions were answered during a pre- purchase phone call. Easy to purchase, reasonable price, good coverage. I did not need it, but good to know I had it just in case.

I wanted to make a claim but was told that my issue did not qualify. I misunderstood the coverage and was a bit disappointed.

Trip supposed to start on 4/9, my Granddaughter was admitted to hospital on 4/3 and transferred to hospice the next day. I filled the claim on 4/6, called 3 times and the claim still in process. They asked for documentations that I’ve sent twice.
Not sure if I’d use the same company again.

IMG has a very easy way to make a claim. The form was easy to fill out online and documentation was easy to attach to the form.

Due to wedding changes, had to change to travel dates a week before the event. When I contacted IMG customer service they were very helpful and quickly changed the dates and sent new version of policy to me. Would definitely consider using again.

I had a minor issue during vacation and I called the 24 hour line to understand how my travel iinsurance would work if I needed to see a medical professional. I did not need to do so but it was explained to me that I would need to pay out of pocket and then file a claim for reimbursement.
