We'll see how our insurance claim is handled, when our initial flight was cancelled and we missed a day of nonrefundable tours and hotel.

Smooth experience buying the policy. Since I did not need to file a claim, I cannot comment on that part of the experience.
I offer these comments constructively as the less good issues are all fixable and show the phone staff is good. The online portal for uploading claim docs was very glitchy and took several tries plus at least one phone call to customer service. After accomplishing that I got a letter saying more documentation was needed as specified below, but nothing was specified. This took another phone call or two to be reassured my submission was complete. The claim determination took a few more than the promised 15 days. I got a prompt response on the phone saying the claim would now be paid in full (which it was) but the same day I received an email asking for more documentation regarding subrogation and saying a final determination would be delayed until those were completed. I ignored that and received payment that day or the following day, as had been promised on the phone.
They were friendly, easy to work with. They explained everything well, sent and received forms easily, the computer interface on forms didn’t work well but emails were pretty good and phone service was excellent
We cancelled the trip. We opted to pay the cancellation fee to the cruise lines and keep the option to schedule another trip as the Square Mouth rep explained. But at our age, we didn't book anything and lost the money spent on the policy.
Travel Insured International's claims process is unsuited to independent travel. Their process might work for travelers on a package tour if they didn't ask excessive questions about medical history, but I would not recommend them.
My claim was resolved after I discovered I could escalate it to a Squaremouth representative. I was assisted by Mari McIver,
Zero Complaint Team, who was extremely helpful.
I had positive experiences with Squaremouth on previous trips but will not do business with them again based on my experience with Travel Insured International.
10/23 baggage did not arrive on Buenos Aires Aeroparque Jorge Newbery Airport to Ushuaia. Arrived 24 + hours later. I almost missed my vacation because if the bag arrived 1/2 hour later, it would not have arrived on time and I needed its contents for said vacation. Contacted 24 hour customer service rep, who said he started a claim, but on later follow up, did nothing.
11/10 3 1/2 travel delay re flight from Ushuaia to Buenos Aires Aeroparque Jorge Newbery Airport. Missed my connecting flight to Santiago. Almost missed the last departing flight from Buenos Aires Aeroparque Jorge Newbery Airport to Santiago. If I arrived ten minutes later, that flight would have left.
Made second call to 24 hour assistance line on November 10th. Found out that nothing was done re my 10/23 call and incident. He explained that since I got everything and didn't have to replace any baggage, that I was not eligible for compensation re delayed baggage.
However, my flight delay was over 3 hours, and am wondering if I have a valid claim re the second item. No one has gotten back to me on this. The second call person who answered the phone said that a claim form would be sent to this e-mail address, but I have not received one.
Getting the policy and its coverage was fine. The customer service when I wanted to file a claim was unsatisfactory. Am still waiting for a claim form.
Once we provided all necessary documentation, a full payment for covered expenses was issued in a very timely manner.
We experienced a 25 hours delay arriving at our destination, JRO, due to a flight cancellation caused by the political unrest in Tanzania. After we returned home, I called Travel Insured International to file a claim for reimbursement for a one night's stay at the Oryx hotel inside the Doha airport. I had no other ancillary expenses. When I told the claim representative the cost of the hotel, $383, she commented on how expensive it was. At the time, we did not have the requisite documentation to enter Qatar, and a hotel inside the secured area of the airport was our only option. I felt that the comment was inappropriate. In addition, the claims process appeared to be rather cumbersome and a significant amount of the information requested on the claim form was irrelevant to our situation.
