Tin Leg customers praise the provider’s customer service, especially when making changes to their coverage or trip details. However, some have expressed frustration with the claims process, particularly regarding the amount of documentation required.
So far, so good. Purchasing the coverage was easy.
Unfortunately I had a medical incident while in Germany and I had to file a claim.
The assistance I have received while working through the claims process has been very good - I have two separate phone calls and on each call the customer service agents were great. Made me very comfortable in navigating the early part of the claims process, answered all my questions
I just submitted a number of files in support of my claim and expect that the process will pick up next week.
So..., so far, so good.

Filed a claim after being admitted to a hospital in Germany for a kidney stone issue. I called customer service twice, once before filing the claim and a second time to ensure I was doing everything “right” before hitting send - both interactions were great. After filing the claim I had to submit one additional piece of information and my claim was then paid about 10 days after that. In total the process took less than 4 weeks. I’ve told everyone I know that travels they need to use this company - I know that some already have. Highly recommend them.
It as so easy to find an appropriate policy, and then when I had to change the dates of my departure, TinLeg's customer service was very helpful and made it so easy. I've used TinLeg for a number of years now and would highly recommend.
Terrible customer service asking me for all kinds of information for a single item I bought from a pharmacy for allergic eye irritation. 0 stars.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We understand that providing documentation for a pharmacy item can be frustrating, and we are here to help. While this claim was closed per your request, please note that policies typically require a physician's consultation for coverage; however, you can always submit a medical report for review by emailing your claim adjuster to reopen your claim.
Had trouble with computer program when trying to purchase…dates kept changing automatically from 2026 to 2027. Had to call customer service for help.
I called the 24 hr line and got the information I needed. The customer service representative was very nice and knowledgeable.
I’ve found the coverage and pricing to be excellent, and the purchasing process is seamless and fast. Unfortunately, I’ve had to file claims twice due to unexpected travel interruptions, and the claims experience has been challenging.
The number of required documents—and the inflexible way those requirements are enforced—makes completing a claim after travel extremely difficult. In one case, I was unable to complete my claim at all. For example, the process requires documentation explaining the reason for a cancelled or delayed flight, which airlines rarely provide. Obtaining that information after travel is often nearly impossible.
Additionally, with most airlines now using digital tickets and dynamic itineraries, travelers typically only receive updated gate and departure information when changes occur—not a full revised itinerary. Retrieving complete documentation after the fact can be very difficult.
Another requirement that seems redundant is the need to submit both receipts for travel changes and a corresponding bank statement. This feels unnecessary and adds extra burden to the process.
My most recent claim was ultimately approved, but the volume of required documentation was significant. Had I not gone through the process before, I likely wouldn’t have had everything needed. The only reason I was successful is because I started the claim immediately when my travel was interrupted and began gathering documents in real time. That seems to be the only reliable way to ensure a successful claim.
I would strongly recommend clearly outlining, upfront, the required documentation for each type of claim (e.g., delays, lost baggage, medical issues). Including this information—perhaps at the bottom of the coverage page—would help customers be better prepared and could reduce administrative workload for your team by minimizing incomplete submissions.
We appreciate you bringing this to our attention. We understand that gathering extensive documentation during a stressful travel interruption is frustrating, and we value your feedback as we work to improve. Please know that we are currently revamping our website to clearly outline the specific documents needed for each claim type upfront. We hope you continue to use Tin Leg for your future travel needs.
I was very impressed with Tin Leg; my claim was processed in a timely manner and hassle free. I provided the information needed and there were no issues. My travel companions who used a different travel insurance provider are still waiting for their claims to be processed and are being hassled to supply unreasonable information.
I use SquareMouth all the time and I highly recommend them.
Thank you!
Very convenient. Will use again if needed. Thank you
Tin leg processed my claim in a timely and open fashion. They did require some additional info to verify the claims, but overall I was very pleased with their service and will definitely be using them again when I travel overseas.
waiting for proceding with claim.
