The person I spoke with was not knowledgeable about insurance claims and did not suggest what I could and could not claim under the policy I purchased.
My original travel dates were modified by airlines and I did not update the policy at each change. Thus, on the way home, when our flights were cancelled and i attempted to make a claim, I was told I was outside of the travel window purchased. Technically this is correct; however I did not realize that I needed to contact the carrier to modify our trip dates each time the airlines changed anything (which happens frequently).
The second leg of our flight was cancelled and rebooked for 12 hours later. I started a claim (since I had a lot of time at the airport that day) with someone and he told me to look for the emails. I never received the emails. After our cancelled and rebooked flight, we didn't received our luggage and I tried calling them and apparently got a 3rd party answering the phone. She said she couldn't see our whole policy and then transferred me to someone else. I was on the phone for about 45 minutes. Then, after she transferred me, I got a recording that they were closed and "click", they were gone. I gave up and called after our trip was over. This time I did receive the emails for the 2 claims. I have filled everything out and now am just waiting to see what happens.
