As it was a medical approved necessity to keep my leg vertical at all times, during my return flight. If you did not approve and plan to reimburse me for the business class upgrade. I could only afford the economy return flight. But thanks to you wonderful people planning to reimburse my $3900 business class upgrade. I was able to keep my leg vertical at all times and, more importantly not incur further damage or even loss of my leg. Have been in hospital since arrival in the US. God Bless n thank you
Website is fantastic and easy to use. I especially like being able to compare multiple options at the same time. I made a mistake in the original application and was able to have it corrected quickly and pleasantly.
Buying the insurance over the phone was very pleasant.
These customer service people were so helpful and patient. I kept having to change things due to some difficult circumstances. They just kept working through the changes until we got everything fixed. They were awesome.
easy to purchase, friendly and helpful agents, knowledgeable staff was able to help me find what I needed for the trip and not purchase additional things I did not need.
Had peace of mind
I never had to use the insurance, fortunately.
We chose Travel Insured because they had favorable ratings on Squaremouth, and they specifically offered coverage for Trip Cancellation due to Covid 19. NOTE: we will NEVER use them again, and here are the reasons why:
The day before our scheduled trip, my husband took a proctored Covid 19 test with certified lab results. He tested positive and we of course had to cancel in the middle of a global pandemic. We directly contacted the majority of the vendors and easily got refunds/credits from airlines, ferries and hotels. We filed a claim with supporting documents on 5/12/22 with Travel Insured for the remaining boat charter portion of our trip.
We heard NOTHING from Travel Insured for four months--then they requested additional information 9/12/22 which we supplied within four days. We received a letter denying our claim, and we appealed 10/14/22. On 10/27/22 yet more additional information was requested, and we replied 11/1/22, this time copying the Ombudsman for the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance Consumer Protection Services.
On 11/14/22, we still had not received a reply. So we documented another request for the prompt processing of our claim, once again copying the Ombudsman. Our claim was paid 11/16/22. Half a year after filing our claim.
Their basis for denial was essentially because my husband did not go to a doctor subsequent to his positive covid test even though he had taken a proctored test that had certified results that were CDC and airline accepted. As per CDC and World Health Organization guidelines, he quarantined and recovered at home. Furthermore, our doctor was not seeing patients. Additionally, neither the airline or the country we were supposed to visit would allow him to travel. What more proof was needed?
Their frivolous requests for additional information, excessive time in processing as well as their convenient denials of our claim makes one wonder how ethical this company is. I'm betting that many customers would have surrendered at the initial claim denial (which to us would have been nearly a $10,000 loss), overwhelmed by the thought of appealing until the right and justified action was taken.
Dealing with Travel Insured was frustrating, time consuming, and burdensome. Seemingly their policy is "deny first" to see what you can get away with. Next time we will pick a company that does things right the first time and deals with customers promptly and professionally.
Good call center agents
They were able to provide the kind of policy I needed for my trip and it was easy to purchase.
