My 88 year-old mother in another state fell and fractured her pelvis three days before our trip. I had purchased "cancel for any reason" coverage and that is what I used my claim toward, it was covered at 75% of the unrefunded trip cost. I could have gotten 100% by using a claim against the regular coverage, but Travel Insured wanted my mother's permission to access her medical records and/or her doctor to prove the claim. It would have been fine for me to do that for myself, but I could not ask her to do that (too much family drama), so I opted to "cancel for any reason." That required I cancel at least 48 hours before the trip started. I called Travel Insured enough ahead of time to learn I needed to decide right away if I was canceling the trip or not, but they did not explain the depth of personal info they would need if I opted for regular cancelation coverage.
Once I opted to cancel for any reason and started processing all the paperwork, I found that Travel Insured had an "upload" feature on their website in Beta mode that would allow me to do everything paperlessly. That turned out to be a really nice feature since I was with my mother for nearly a month after her fall and it was so much easier to do the whole claim on my own computer without having to leave her to print or make copies or go to the post office. I did have to make another phone call to find out how/when they updated my claim status, but all in all, it worked flawlessly.
This may sound like a complaining review, but I was well pleased with Travel Insured's responsiveness when I did call them and their timeliness in paying my claim.
I became ill on my cruise. Upon returning home, I contacted Travel Insured International. They e-mailed me claim forms with instructions on May 13. I mailed everything that was requested on May 15 and received my reimbursement on May 21. Excellent service. I have since purchased another policy for a cruise in September.
I have used Squaremouth before and submitted a claim to a previous company with the same great results.
It gave us peace of mind knowing, should something happen before or during our trip, our out of pocket expenses for air travel, lodging and theatre tickets would be covered by Travel Insured International. Money well spent, a great value!

I thought I was purchasing emergency ticket change. I was told I did not. I was told I could file a medical claim only after my primary paid. I didn’t get what I thought I purchased. And I will have to wait weeks for primary to decide to pay or not. I’m feeling frustrated and I have a broken arm.
Since I didn't need to file a claim, I can't comment on whether the insurance I purchased would have provided what I expected it to.

Very easy to use website. Full terms of policy could be reviewed in advance of purchase. Representative was very helpful explaining interpretation of policy benefits.
This insurance company is working very, very slowly and inefficiently- almost as though they are hoping that I will forget about them and they will not pay the claim. Would never use them again.

Claim was sluggishly processed with requests for additional information, both from me and from my medical provider. In the end, the company found a way to cut my benefits. I was only seeking $350 from $2000 fee for rebooking a ticket due to illness, and they still found a way to knock that benefit down by hundred dollars. Would not use this company again. It seems that they’re looking for ways to avoid payment
