Iceland’s Meteorological Office has announced that an eruption started on Friday, August 29th, between the Bardarbunga volcano and the nearby Askja volcanic system. No volcanic ash has been reported so far, and the eruption tremors have been mild. 

While a triangular section of airspace over the eruption site has been closed, airports are remaining open and there is no foreseen effect on flights.
