Armed terrorists stormed an iconic museum and killed 19 people and a security officer Wednesday. At least 22 tourists and two Tunisians were wounded. The injured included British, Italian, French, Spanish and Polish nationals. Authorities swept in, killed two gunmen, freed hostages and launched a manhunt for more perpetrators. Certain CSA Travel Protection plans offer coverage for some effects of a terrorist act, provided the requirements of the plan are met. Customers are strongly encouraged to read their Description of Coverage or Insurance Policy for details regarding their available coverage. For plans that do offer coverage for terrorist acts, please note that there is no coverage for this specific act under any plans purchased on or after Wednesday, March 18, 2015. Tin Leg
On Wednesday March 18th, two gunmen stormed the Bardo Museum in Tunis, Tunisia, killing 17 tourists, and two others.
The U.S. Department of State declared these shootings in Tunisia an act of Terrorism.
This incident may be considered an event qualifying for Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption coverage for Tin Leg customers with Economy, Standard and Luxury policies.
Travelers who purchased a Tin Leg policy prior to March 18th, 2015, may be eligible for Cancellation and Interruption coverage if the terrorist attack meets their policy’s definition and impacts their travel plans.
In order for an attack to be covered under Tin Leg policies, it must meet the following requirements:
- Occur after the policy is purchased
- Be deemed an act of terrorism by the U.S. Department of State
- Result in the complete cessation of travel services at the point of departure or destination for the below specified amounts of time:
- Tin Leg Economy policy: 48 consecutive hours
- Tin Leg Standard policy: 24 consecutive hours
- Tin Leg Luxury policy: 12 consecutive hours
- Occur within 7 days of your departure
- Occur within 50 miles of a city listed on your itinerary

Trawick International considers an event to be a terrorist attack if the government where the occurrence took place declares the event to be an act of terrorism.
Trawick International Safe Travels Medical policies do not exclude any acts of terrorism. If you become sick, injured, or die due to a terrorist attack you are covered.
Trawick International Safe Travels Trip Cancellation policies can provide coverage in the event a trip is cancelled or interrupted due to a covered terrorist attack. The terrorist incident must:
1) occur after the start date of your trip cancellation coverage;
2) in a city listed on your itinerary; and
3) within 30 days of your scheduled arrival.
If you purchased a policy before the event and Tunis is a city listed on your travel itinerary, you can be eligible for a refund, if your trip is cancelled or interrupted due to this specific event.
