They were wonderful. I fell and broke my leg in Israel. They helped modify my return flight and transportation to and from the airport. Others in my group who didn’t get travel insurance now all say they will just to be safe. They even called me when I reached the US to make sure I made it home safely.
South African Airlines would not allow me to board the plane in Johannesburg for Nigeria. My “visa on arrival” paper work was not accepted although we were told it was ok by the Nigerian visa agency. So I needed to book another flight that by-passed Nigeria in order to get to Sierra Leone (our final destination). I also needed to cancel the Lagos hotel. The return flight thru Lagos was ok since I was only in transit to another flight. Also the flight from Lagos to Freetown Sierra Leone had to be cancelled (just one way) because I could not get fly into Lagos.
I just received the letter from Broadspire that my entire claim was denied because it did not meet their policy criteria for Trip Interruption benefits. Broadspire Services, Inc., a subsidiary of Crawford & Company, is a third party administrator assigned to act on behalf of Generali Assicurazioni Generali to process my claim.
I thought that Trip interruption coverage is coverage that reimburses a traveler of their unused pre-paid trip costs when their trip has to be abandoned. I realize my situation is a bit unusual but it does fit into that category of trip coverage. This denial makes me not only want to avoid using April Insurance but from ever buying travel insurance again. I have used Squaremouth on several of my trips and have recommended you to my tours guests (I run tours to Africa). I am not sure I can now recommend getting any insurance since it coverage seems to be so restrictive.

The claim procedure is/was very difficult and off-putting. I sent it off more than 2,weeks ago and have had no reply of any kind from Crawford’s
Medical concierge was not very helpful in the beginning. Not sure she worked for April as she didn’t seem to know much about the policy. It seemed like she was with a third party company.
We thank the customer for her taking her time to post her review and apologize her initial experience did not meet her expectations. The call and case have been reviewed and proper re-training has been implemented.
We were able to reach out to the customer and offer our assistance in getting her claim initiated. Claim forms have been emailed, once received, they will be properly reviewed and adjudicated.
She was thankful for the follow up.
My only experience was confirming policy specifics through customer service before travelling. All my questions were sufficiently answered and the policy met my expectations.
The have been terrific and claim is going to b paid within 10 days

They made it very easy and kept in contact throughout.
We were lucky that during our entire travel we did not have the need to contact or submit any claims.
Claim forms next to impossible to complete
My agent was incredible
Have initiated a claim that is still open. To date April Travel Protection has been most responsive and helpful.
