Many Aegis customers appreciate the level of service they receive when they have questions about their coverage or need assistance while traveling. In contrast, other travelers have reported difficulties in obtaining status updates on filed claims.
Have initiated a claim that is still open. To date April Travel Protection has been most responsive and helpful.
I would be very helpful if you identify, where applicable, that any claim, for example, for delay, will only be accepted IF the claim is based on actual out-of-picket expenses, and not merely provided for in the policy's fine print. This would apply to any and all other matters where a claim might be filed.
April’s policy is at the top end of the scale for coverages. In fact, some benifits of coverage surpassed its competitors by great lengths.
Customer service was on top of every detail. My wife and I departed feeling completely protected and secure.
Trip insurance was useless. It required a physician evaluation even though I purchased a "cancel for any reason" clause, at the cost of several hundred extra dollars. I am not spending another $300 for a doctor's appointment to meet paperwork requirements for the this trip insurance when the whole reason for "cancel for any reason" was to avoid that extra expense. I got sick before the trip, and I had purchased the extra coverage for that possibility - end of story. What a scam.
We thank Russell for his review and welcome the opportunity to respond. The Cancel for Any Reason (CFAR) upgrade does allow one to cancel for a non-covered reason, but the policyholder still needs to qualify for coverage within the policy’s general terms and conditions.
Under our April Choice plan CFAR benefit, one of the requirements which must be met is to cancel your trip a minimum of 48 hours prior to the scheduled departure date. That provision is an industry standard & would be required with any CFAR policy he would purchase from any travel insurance company.
Unfortunately, Russell canceled with the airline the day of his scheduled departure & contacted our Claims Department for the first time that same day. Because he failed to take action 48 hours or more prior to his departure, filing a claim using CFAR is no longer an available option.
Russell did share he was cancelling due to illness, which is a covered reason. As with any travel insurance policy, he will be required to submit a physician’s statement noting that his sickness prevented him from traveling. However, Russell has stated that he did not want to go to the doctor for his sickness.
Russell has been issued a travel credit with the airline, which is valid for one year from the initial purchase date. In addition, should he wish to pursue the Cancellation for Medical reasons, claim forms have again, been emailed. Several voice mails were left with Russell, by the adjuster, to discuss his case. To date, he has not returned the calls.
"Cancel For Any Reason" does not in fact mean that. How about a straight forward, honest policy without a ton of fine print?
Appreciated quick and clear response when I had a question enrolling
I called your representative...left a message..she never called back...
Somehow during the buying process I ended up with 2 policies in my name instead of one for my wife and one for me. Unfortunately I did not discover this until shortly before departure. When I tried to correct it April was hard to deal with saying that it was not possible to make insured name changes. After several calls they said they would but I never revived any confirmation that they had done so
Purchasing was smooth and easy and when I asked for a policy paper copy to take with me they provided one within 10 days. We will see how they do with my medical claim...I have file with my healthcare insurance first.
At the very last minute, my group tour was cancelled. I live in New Hampshire, but was already in Connecticut with friends that were also part of the group. When I returned home I contacted April Insurance, only to be told that I should have contacted them the previous day. The representative with whom I spoke told me that she would inquire about an exception when I explained the circumstances. I waited two weeks but heard nothing. I then contacted the company again and was assured that a supervisor would be calling me that very afternoon. That was on the 27th. I have heard nothing since.
I am very disappointed with this service
