Many Aegis customers appreciate the level of service they receive when they have questions about their coverage or need assistance while traveling. In contrast, other travelers have reported difficulties in obtaining status updates on filed claims.
There was a trip delay, but not 6 hours so that wasn't covered. No problem.
However my luggage was lost for over 24 hours and will be filing a claim for that.
We thank Carol for insuring her trip to Iceland with our April Choice travel insurance plan. We are sorry to learn that she not only encountered a Trip Delay, but also a Baggage Delay, as well.
The plan purchased does provide coverage benefits with minimum hour delay requirements prior to benefits becoming available, and both are for out of pocket purchase, reimbursement.
Carol’s Trip Delay did not meet the 6 hour delay minimum requirement, and it was explained to her that the Baggage Delay benefit requires out of pocket purchase receipts to accompany the proof of loss submission. This benefit is not one of inconvenience. While she was disappointed, she understood, and will not be further pursuing any claim reimbursement for this trip.
Can not comment yet. Claim being processed
There is little to comment on as our trip went smoothly and no assistance was required nor a need to file a claim necessary.. Buying insurance is not something I relish having to do and would not rate such an experience as a 5 star event in spite of the fact that the whole process went fairly smoothly. Suffice it to say that we would probably use the services of Squaremouth again.
We were highly disappointed with April Travel's customer service. Buying additional insurance became very problematic
since the rep would take days and even weeks to follow up on emails. The last purchase was done after many problems
and it ended up done wrong by her, but it took weeks to obtain a clarification. Then they reviewed how things happened
and decided the rep did what we requested, which by the emails was clearly not so. This company treated us badly and
caused us a lot of stress and worry during the last two months before leaving on our trip. We would never do business
with you again since we would not want to have anything to do with April Travel. The friend who recommended you to us
stated he had never had such awful experience like we did, but he had never dealt with April Travel and will be careful not
to ever do it.
The claim process required a lot of information to be submitted. However, April was very clear about what was needed, we only had to submit information once, and the full payment came in about 3 weeks.
This was the first time I had ever submitted a claim against travel insurance so I thought it took a little longer than I expected for the claim process. When I called them about 6 weeks after I had submitted my claim, I was told they had a large number of claims to process, but mine would be finished within the next week or ten days. About two weeks later, I did receive a check for the full amount of the claim I submitted for my injury so I was well satisfied.
We had to cancel the trip. I have filled out the forms twice, sent multiple emails to Miami and have received NO response, To date I will I would give Squaremouth zero stars and unless things change I will regularly share my opinion with friends planning travel and travel agencies.

Rate increase is outrageous
Purchased April travel Ins. on 9/4. On 9/6 it was apparent that we would be impacted by Hurricane Irma & would not be making our trip out to Nevada. I called April Travel to advise I was canceling the insurance. They told me to send a confirming email which I did as well. April Travel also told me they were closing the office that day in preparation for the hurricane. (So, I both telephoned & spoke with a "Susan", sent a confirming email & went on their website to fill out a cancellation form as well. After the hurricane I finally got thru by phone to the office. I was told that they were working thru a backlog of messages & my refund would be issued when they got to my messages.. I have called them numerous times only to get a busy signal. I did get thru once to a very curt "Mabel" who also informed me that my refund would be issued when they got to it (on 9-19-17).
I finally contacted my credit card company at the end of last week as I still had not seen the cancellation refund or gotten any communication from April Travel. I have disputed the charge as I cancelled well within the allotted time & as of 10/2/17 still have not had any response at all from April Travel.
I have used Squaremouth before & it has worked well. My experience with April Travel will make me re-think using Squaremouth next time.
Thank you.
