My trip was interupted and I lost 2 days at the second location and encountered addtional expenses for lodging and transportation
I contacted April and they emailed me a claim form which I will fill out and return.

New insurance buyers, please remember even with "cancellation for any reason", they will ONLY reimburse 75% of the refund amount(airline ticket cancellation), NOT 75% of the trip cost. Reasons mentioned in cancellations clause won't normally meet normal conditions. Customer care is POOR.STAY AWAY FROM APRIL TRAVEL PROTECTION.

All details pertaining to the optional Cancellation for Any Reason ("CFAR") benefit are outlined in the plan description of this website and also in the fulfillment documents sent via email immediately after purchasing the travel insurance policy. CFAR under the APRIL Choice plan provides 75% reimbursement of the pre-paid, forfeited, non-refundable payments or deposits to the travel supplier, excluding insurance premium.
His frustrations were centered around his misunderstanding that insurance is not intended so that the policyholder can be reimbursed twice by two separate entities for the same monies. The policyholder was already being reimbursed by the airline for 75% of his cancelled ticket's cost. Despite those monies already coming back to him, this policyholder wanted APRIL to reimburse him for those same dollars. Instead, APRIL followed the rules of his policy which mirror all other insurance providers which was to reimburse him for the portion of his ticket's costs that were not returned by the airline.
As requested by the policyholder, his settlement was processed under the CFAR provision and the reimbursed amount was based off the remaining costs not refunded by his airline. As stated, any reason cancellations (which do not require the policyholder to declare why they cancelled) are limited to a reimbursement of 75% of the non-refunded trip costs. In order to receive 100% reimbursement of the non-refunded trip costs, our adjusters would need to evaluate the policyholder's reason for cancellation.
On 7/18/16, we asked the policyholder to provide a reason for cancellation so our adjustors could potentially seek a 100% reimbursement under the standard Trip Cancellation benefit if his reason is a covered unforeseen event (as outlined in the terms & conditions of the policy). I was contacted regarding the completion of the claim within their 30 day framework.
“Aegis policy: Go Ready ChoiceI am very pleased with the way my claim was handled, yet would point out that timeliness is extremely important. I took sick the night before traveling to the airport where we were staying, before catching an early morning flight the next day. I saw my Dr. on travel day, who had me come back the next day for further diagnosis and treatment. In the interim I called APRIL and received medical forms to take with me to that next Dr.'s appointment. On the day I would have flown out, I was in the Dr.'s office and they filled out the paperwork stating that I was unable to make the trip. In reviewing my policy for Trip Cancellation or Trip Interruption Coverage, it states "that a Physician must advise cancellation of the covered trip on or before the Scheduled Departure Date." I was very grateful that I had the forms with me on the day of departure, but wonder how it would have gone if I had been admitted to the hospital the night before or had gotten on the plane and didn't have the opportunity to contact APRIL Travel Protection when I did. I had pneumonia and found it difficult to tend to these matters.
Once my claim was filed, it was handled promptly and efficiently. There was very good followup by APRIL when the claims adjuster requested additional information and my response wasn't properly copied to them. I will definitely continue to use SquareMouth to fill my travel insurance needs and recommend APRIL Travel Protection for fair, prompt coverage.
