I was concerned if some of the features important to me were included in the actual policy. They explained they were but the copy within the policy was evasive and more than a bit confusing! I think they could do a far better job in writing if they concentrated on keeping it simple and using easy to understand for the non-professional
Would I go out if my way to recommend April? We had no. Claim experience to go by. Every insurance company is a winner if the client has no need

I've used square mouth in the past and like the ability to choose the coverage I need, although, thankfully I've never had to file a claim. My interaction regarded the length of coverage, but that could have been a typo on my part.
it was easy to compare different travel insurance using Squaremouth. APRIL Travel Protection is what I ended up purchasing and had to file a claim. I tore my ACL during my vacation in Puerto Vallarta, MX and had to see the hotel doctor. He didn't do much - just gave me an ACE bandage & prescription-strength ibuprofen & some sort of anti-inflammatory cream. Although having to gather the documents, fill out the paperwork, , etc was a bit of a hassle, it was easy enough to get reimbursed for the doctor cost. From the time I filed the claim to receiving the reimbursement check, it took around a month to receive the check.
Highly recommend Squaremouth to search for travel insurance (excellent customer service & chat function!) and APRIL travel protection service.
The coordination efforts with April were very good, I provided the requested documents and everything went well.
Our visas were delayed, and we had to reschedule our trip outside the coverage window. When I called to ask about options for this policy, the agent said changes because of visas complications aren't covered, but that she would ask some questions about our situation. We never heard back.
Dear client, it appears that a phone number was not listed in your Summary of Benefits for our team to contact you back following your initial call. Nonetheless, you were correctly informed that a delay in travel documents is excluded from coverage as it is not considered an unforeseen event. Clients are responsible to review all entry requirements for the intended destination and request the necessary visas in a timely manner prior to departure. Only a policy including Cancel for Any Reason (CFAR) coverage would have helped your situation, but that coverage must be purchased within 7 to 14 days of your Initial Trip Deposit (depending on the plan).

My trip was interupted and I lost 2 days at the second location and encountered addtional expenses for lodging and transportation
I contacted April and they emailed me a claim form which I will fill out and return.
I have used Squaremouth on multiple occasions and find the website and policy ourchase very easy

NOT at all satisfied with April Travel protection plan.
New insurance buyers, please remember even with "cancellation for any reason", they will ONLY reimburse 75% of the refund amount(airline ticket cancellation), NOT 75% of the trip cost. Reasons mentioned in cancellations clause won't normally meet normal conditions. Customer care is POOR.
STAY AWAY FROM APRIL TRAVEL PROTECTION.
We thank our policyholder for addressing his concerns, again, after his recent claim settlement.
All details pertaining to the optional Cancellation for Any Reason ("CFAR") benefit are outlined in the plan description of this website and also in the fulfillment documents sent via email immediately after purchasing the travel insurance policy. CFAR under the APRIL Choice plan provides 75% reimbursement of the pre-paid, forfeited, non-refundable payments or deposits to the travel supplier, excluding insurance premium.
His frustrations were centered around his misunderstanding that insurance is not intended so that the policyholder can be reimbursed twice by two separate entities for the same monies. The policyholder was already being reimbursed by the airline for 75% of his cancelled ticket's cost. Despite those monies already coming back to him, this policyholder wanted APRIL to reimburse him for those same dollars. Instead, APRIL followed the rules of his policy which mirror all other insurance providers which was to reimburse him for the portion of his ticket's costs that were not returned by the airline.
As requested by the policyholder, his settlement was processed under the CFAR provision and the reimbursed amount was based off the remaining costs not refunded by his airline. As stated, any reason cancellations (which do not require the policyholder to declare why they cancelled) are limited to a reimbursement of 75% of the non-refunded trip costs. In order to receive 100% reimbursement of the non-refunded trip costs, our adjusters would need to evaluate the policyholder's reason for cancellation.
On 7/18/16, we asked the policyholder to provide a reason for cancellation so our adjustors could potentially seek a 100% reimbursement under the standard Trip Cancellation benefit if his reason is a covered unforeseen event (as outlined in the terms & conditions of the policy). Our team is still pending a reply.
