The claim process was clear and straight forward. I was contacted regarding the completion of the claim within their 30 day framework.
I am very pleased with the way my claim was handled, yet would point out that timeliness is extremely important. I took sick the night before traveling to the airport where we were staying, before catching an early morning flight the next day. I saw my Dr. on travel day, who had me come back the next day for further diagnosis and treatment. In the interim I called APRIL and received medical forms to take with me to that next Dr.'s appointment. On the day I would have flown out, I was in the Dr.'s office and they filled out the paperwork stating that I was unable to make the trip. In reviewing my policy for Trip Cancellation or Trip Interruption Coverage, it states "that a Physician must advise cancellation of the covered trip on or before the Scheduled Departure Date." I was very grateful that I had the forms with me on the day of departure, but wonder how it would have gone if I had been admitted to the hospital the night before or had gotten on the plane and didn't have the opportunity to contact APRIL Travel Protection when I did. I had pneumonia and found it difficult to tend to these matters.
Once my claim was filed, it was handled promptly and efficiently. There was very good followup by APRIL when the claims adjuster requested additional information and my response wasn't properly copied to them. I will definitely continue to use SquareMouth to fill my travel insurance needs and recommend APRIL Travel Protection for fair, prompt coverage.
