APRIL did not acknowledge receipt of my claim for 30 days after I mailed it. However, after that moved along well. We would use APRIL again.
Squaremouth is the easiest way to shop for travel insurance! It allowed me to compare policies and prices as well as letting me tailor a policy for exactly the coverage I wanted. I am very satisfied and will definitely use Squaremouth again!
I had two policies with April Travel Protection, one an annual policy and another to cover what isn't covered in the annual policy. I had two back to back trips. I was hospitalized two days into the first program and the doctor advised me to go home to recover there. I already had medical and flight home insurance from my travel company so I didn't apply for that reimbursement. But I filed two claims, one for the trip that was interrupted and one for the program I had to cancel. For the canceled program, I was paid everything that I lost. For the interrupted program, I got back about $200 less than I had claimed, but I wasn't sure how to go about figuring the amount go claim. My one complaint is that they told me they would send an explation of how the reimbursement amount was figured, but I never received it.
Excellent customer service, timely and polite. This is a great insurance company!
I appreciated being able to purchase cancellation insurance only as I did not want medical, etc. coverage that comes with most travel policies.
Squaremouth is a great site. Squaremouth enabled us to find a policy appropriate to our needs. Unfortunately, our trip was delayed by two days because of a Lufthansa strike. We took most of a day when we returned to file a claim with all the required paperwork and receipts. Several weeks later we received checks in the mail from April (Seven Corners) for 50% of the amount we claimed, with no explanation whatsoever. We called Seven Corners to ask why we did not receive the full amount and an itemized statement of what was approved. One week later we called again and were told additional checks were in the mail.
We should not have had to ask for a detailed explanation--it should have been included in the first letter from Seven Corners. The process with Seven Corners made us wonder (a) if their in-house policy is to approve 50% in a perfunctory way and hope the customer just accepts that figure and goes away, (b) whether in fact the "claims adjuster" even read our full page narrative with receipts. In the end, they gave us an "acceptable" amount (though less than our claim) with a brief explanation. I'm sure there are worse insurance companies, but Seven Corners (April VIP) could upgrade its act.
We will definitely look at Squaremouth again, and maybe Seven Corners/April.
it took avery long time for the claim to be paid and multiple phone calls
Thank you for choosing APRIL Travel Protection. Our team prides itself in providing exceptional customer service to all policyholders. Our Claims Manager reviewed our APRIL records following the receipt of this online review and confirmed that this claim was settled within the promised 30 business days.
Our team received the completed claim forms on 9/1/15. APRIL's adjustors settled the claim, for the full amount, on 9/22/15.
My claim was filed over 3 weeks ago and have heard nothing.
APRIL travel Protection's support/service was less than negative four stars. I broke my leg in Italy four days before I flew home from Rome to LAX. I was unable to walk and had two pieces of luggage. There were multiple exchanges with Customer Service notably Johanna but in the time before my flight absolutely nothing was arranged by her, in fact trying to communicate with her added stress and exhaustion to the last four days of my trip. I have never been so disappointed in travel Insurance company as I was with April.
I told her that I was in remote areas of Italy and it would be difficult to reach me by phone or email but the only type of message she left was her name and her phone number asking me to call. There was never any answer. Ultimately I had no recourse but to ask the tour company I was with to help me despite the fact that I had bought the policy from April. Luckily the tour company decided to be gracious and do the job that April should have done. I will never ever use April Travel Protection. II will certainly publicize their incompetence on every social media website.
.April accomplished nothing for me except making the experience much more stressful than it needed to be. They should be ashamed to promote themselves as travel protection insurance.
Squaremouth isn't the problem exactly. April Travel Insurance is. I experienced a problem while overseas and I was not able to contact April. I spent over $40.00 trying to contact them to no avail. I finally contacted customer service from Squaremouth. When I explained my problem customer service didn't really help. It was only after I pushed the operator by telling her that I couldn't get hold of April several times that she said someone would contact me. I received an email with a different number for April. Fortunately the medical emergency did not occur and I was able to continue my trip. I will not use them again.
I was not happy with April because I could not reach them in spite of the phone numbers I had. The Squaremouth operator I spoke to could have been a little more caring when I explained my problem. It appear that she didn't really care or didn't know what to do. I do travel extensively and have used Steve's Travel Insurance Store which I enjoyed.
