Thus far no9 problem with my claim, except never received confirmation of my claim receipt from I Travel. I finally after two weeks had to call them to confirm that they received my claim
Will use you again.
The day we were to travel home, my husband was very ill and needed medical treatment. Not knowing if he was going to be able to return home, I called iTravelinsured to clarify how to proceed if we had to delay our return. I was told that if we needed to change flights, we should just take care of it and submit the info to them on return. The second call I made was to inquire if they had a concierge or other coordinator I needed to work through. I was given the same info as the prior call, which was helpful from a consistency standpoint.
In the end, my husband was re-stabilized and we were able to make our flight as planned. Sine he has Medicare and additional private coverage, will likely be no claims filed for the medical treatment.
It was not as smooth an experience as I would have liked. Found some things unclear and had to inquire. Didn't feel a sense of great confidence in answers. Too much has gone on since then to recall exact details, I just recall thinking, Boy I sure hope I don't need to file a claim, because this seems like hit or miss for getting the coverage that I hope I'm getting. This is not a horrible review, and I'll probably keep coming back here for more; I'm just saying it's scary when you think ahead if you needed to file a claim... you wonder if everything will be covered and go smoothly. When you ask questions, the answers sound like they're coming from clerks, not from insurance experts, and you wonder if they really know more about it than you in the first place.
You force me to answer whether I interacted with iTravelInsured 24 hour assistance. Beats me. I talked to somebody. Were they "with iTravelInsured 24 hour assistance," I have no idea. I don't know what "iTravelInsured 24 hour assistance" is. I'll just say I did and rate it average, otherwise you won't let me submit.
I learned my lesson. Prior to this experience I thought all travel insurance companies are the same so I went for the cheapest option. And now that I actually had to make a claim because I had to escape a hurricane during my trip, iTravelInsured countered every claim and said not covered, not covered, not covered. In addition, it took them 4 months to process my claim because they were so backlogged. I had to call them time and time again to check on status. It was a horrible experience. When you purchase travel insurance you purchase peace of mind, but with iTravelInsured, you are just giving away your money. My advice - spend a little bit more and go with a more reputable company that actually cares about you and want to take care of you.
Thank you for posting a review of iTravelInsured.
We apologize for your negative experience.

I am in the process of a claim and cannot get a customer service representative to return my email or fax
I had some questions regarding the policy I purchased, specifically about cancelling for medical reasons. We has an emergency 2 days before we were to leave on vacation and had not been cleared for travel at the time. After calling customer service, everything was explained in detail including steps that would need to be taken on my end should we have to cancel. Agents were nice and stated they put a note in my file that this was a possibility. Luckily we were able to continue our trip as planned. I would use them again.
We paid $656 for an expensive travel policy with iTravelInsured. Then, we changed our travel plans to leave a day earlier. We wanted to contact iTravelInsured to let them know of the date change. We called every phone number we could find for iTravelInsured to ask them to add the extra day and THEY DID NOT ANSWER ANY PHONE NUMBERS, not the 800 numbers, not the collect numbers, none.
Had we had to make a call from overseas, we would not have been able to get iTravelInsured to answer the phone, since they did not answer when we were still in the US. So, we had NO peace of mind about any help should we have had a problem, as we traveled in the Middle East.
It never occurred to us that we should call and test the customer service numbers of a potential travel insurance company BEFORE we purchased a policy. But we will be doing so in future. We have many international trips scheduled through the end of the year, and more planned for the next few years.
But, with this really bad experience, we will certainly NOT be getting our travel policy from iTravelInsured or from Squaremouth.
If we could give it 0 stars, we would have done so. And we assume that you will not be publishing this bad experience. Too bad, you should warn other travelers...
I talked to a customer service agent and told her exactly what I needed and she brought up 3 policies of which I did choose one.
It was effortless and easy and I felt I was covered for anything that could possibly occur. It's great to have such a peace of mind.
Contacted 24-hour hotline over Thanksgiving weekend when fell in on trip to Peru and required medical attention. 24-hour Emergency Travel Assistance with global peace of mind was non-existent. All phone numbers contained message that they were closed for the holiday. When I finally connected, help line was short on definitive guidance concerning coverage regarding "trip interruption" and how to proceed. Disappointed in service level and not living up 24-hour hotline marketing.
I am filing claim now and will try to update this review once resolved.
