hard to provide real feedback when all well and we never made a claim
My online experience prior to departure was very positive — I used the online chat to help navigate my choices. However, when i needed to access IMG for emergency assistance, the office was getting ready to close and they didn't have my policy on file and said i had to wait for it to be emailed to me in order to understand what i was eligible for. It was September 8, Friday afternoon when i just learned that my return flight home to Miami was cancelled due to Hurricane Irma. All the airports were closing and there was no way for me to return home to Miami. Desperate to get back to the states, i made other plans on my own recourse. i contacted IMG Monday, September 11 to file a claim and spoke to several representatives who said i was not eligible to file a claim because the Natural Disaster needed to happen in my home town/country. Miami/S. Florida is my hometown and place of employment. The region and state was under mandatory evacuation, closing all airports due to Category 4 life-threatening strength. The destruction of Hurricane Irma could hit $120 billion in the United States and Caribbean and has been listed as the worst hurricane in history to date. As stated in my policy listed below, Hurricane Irma was a Natural Disaster (N) and therefore my trip was Interrupted (R) because this directly effected me returning to my home country (USA) and home town (MIAMI). I called IMG again and they told me someone will return my call, 5-days later i'm still waiting for the return call on how to make a claim. I'm extremely disappointed with their customer service, lack of awareness and knowledge of policy and connection to hurricane Irma and lack of compassion by IMG. PLEASE SOMEONE FROM IMG RESPOND.

I decided to purchase the medical insurance for my husband and myself because we were going to a third world country. We were just gone for a week but you never know..... We didn't need to use it but having it gave me piece of mind !!!
Very easy process. Spoke to a representative who recommended coverage amounts. All the information was emailed to me and we were able to print out our cards and go.
excellent service from start to finish, would recommend to anybody. Peter.
This is the second time I have used SquareMouth to research and purchase travel insurance. I like having competitive insurance quotes, and coverage options, and reviews right on screen, allowing me to make an informed decision. In this case the iTravelInsured policy fit my needs and was competitively priced. Thankfully all worked perfectly on our trip, so there was no need to make a claim, but the peace of mind I had knowing I did have travel insurance was valuable to me.
I filed a claim via U.S. Mail for baggage delay, and never received a response. Upon contacting them by email they claimed they never received my form and documents. I re-submitted via email with scanned documents over 2 weeks ago and have not received any communication from the company at all. I would not choose them again!
My 3 star rating for pre-departure was chosen because it wasn't possible to choose "not applicable". I did not interact with them pre-departure.
Review Updated: 06/04/2017
The good news - they finally paid the baggage delay claim of $150 (their maximum). Also I may have had less than great documentation so I appreciate no pushback on this.
The bad news - when I first filed the claim by U.S. Mail they claimed they never received it. Also, through a period of about 3 months getting this settled, they never voluntarily communicated with me in any way to report on the status of the process. I just finally received a check. I got Squaremouth involved at one point, not sure whether this prompted the final settlement of the claim.
On balance, I'm not impressed with this company.
We apologize for your frustration with this claim. The claim was received April 26, 2017. On this day a response was sent acknowledging receipt of the claim documents. Claim processing time normally takes approximately 15 calendar days from the date received for the claim to be formally reviewed. This claim has been processed and payment representing the maximum benefit is being issued. I would be careful with this company. We purchased a policy then had to make a claim because of a family illness. I would say that at every turn, they were looking for nit-picky reasons to delay paying and try to deny the claim by asking for what in my opinion were superfluous documents. In the end, I got them everything they asked for and they did pay the claim though I can imagine having an issue had I not been so thorough in gathering my information especially the forms from the doctors. If they had denied I would have invoked the cancel for any reason option, which I paid extra for, but that would have meant eating 25% of the cost. My claim was not for a lot of money - $1300, not sure how they would have dealt with a larger claim. Further details: I had to call them many times to get a status update, they would mail me denials even though my claim was still open and they had literally asked me a few days earlier for the additional documentation. Many of the agents were not knowledgable and it was difficult to get in touch with someone who was. I chose this company because their price was very competitive, I don't know if a more expensive policy would have a better claims process, but I can say that this experience would not make me choose this company again if I was trying to cover a more expensive trip. SquareMouth makes the buying process simple, but you are on your own with a claim unless you want to invoke their zero complaint guaranty. I didn't do that because ultimately I got paid, not sure whether they whether they could have gotten me paid if I was denied. If you do choose this or any other insurer, I would be very meticulous with your forms and information.
I only get Travel Ins. In the event of illness, job loss or death of a family member. Unfortunately, most Ins. Companies avoid any payments if at all possible. You MUST read the fine print and ASK the right questions. For ex., if an airline goes on strike and makes an announcement prior to your departure date, you have NO coverage. It must occur extemporaneously on the departure date. When does this happen???? Beware!!!!
This was actually the third time that we used ItravelInsured for our trip insurance. The initial two occasions were a dream. Queries were promptly answered, quotes were immediately sent and follow-ups were timely and valuable. Additionally, I did not have to ask for documentation and when they were received, they were complete and accurate.
This time, I had a really tough time with my interactions. It was clear that our contact was either not reading my mails, did not fully understand English or just plain, was not interested. Moreover, I am the one who had to follow-up. Additionally, I had to request documentation and also remind my contact to send them.
Ultimately, we got the insurance finalised, so all's well.
Look, I know as clients, my small group of four, pose an unusual problem for your agents. We plan our trips way ahead of the due dates, because they are mainly big sporting events like the Olympics or FIFA World Cups. Moreover, we try to include any expense that impact our trips. In most instances, apart from the travel and accommodations, other expenses come in over the weeks and months following our first application for insurance; for example, tickets, rental car expenses etc. As proof, we only received our final batch of tickets for the Rio games, from Cartan, just 7 weeks before our departure Thus what usually happens is that I would request additions to the initial policy rather than a new policy.
Please do not use these comments to screw-over my contact; however, I will respectfully ask that you assign an agent to our account, who understand these nuances, so that the process can be smoothly executed. Russia 2018 is not far away.
Thank you for posting a review.
We apologize for your negative experience with iTravelInsured.

Even though I didn't need to file a claim, your customer service rep was AWESOME! I will highly recommend your company to everyone!!! Better than the other company I've used in the past!
