Many Aegis customers appreciate the level of service they receive when they have questions about their coverage or need assistance while traveling. In contrast, other travelers have reported difficulties in obtaining status updates on filed claims.
My son had a college final that was scheduled for the day we were leaving. I had to change his flight to adjust for this. The insurance didn’t cover the price change.
Thank you for your feedback, we’re sorry the policy did not provide coverage for the situation you described, an Interruption to your departure due to your son’s academic finals. You can find the list of Other Covered Reasons in the Schedule of Benefits.
We hope he did well on his exams and you were able to enjoy your holiday.
At the last minute I decided to extend my trip by five days. I called Aegis to inform them of this, and they immediately said that would be no problem and they would just change the dates of the policy. When I asked how much extra I would have to pay, they said there would be no extra charge at all. I give that service five stars, for sure!!!!
I had booked a cruise on American queen voyages and about three weeks before the the cruise the company went into a chapter 11 bankruptcy.
It will be a while before I get my deposit back, if ever.
I have a medical claim for about $275. My primary is medicar and I have a supplement with Cigna. I know medicare will not cover this expense and I doubt that Cigna will. But the claims department told me that this is a secondary insurance and I must submit to my primary insurance first.
Felt safe
will use them again, reasonably priced good coverage and helpful agent
One of the phone numbers for Aegis just rang and rang...no answer. Finally called a different one and able to talk to a real person who was able to help me. From there on was a good experience
Thank you for taking the time to post your review, we always appreciate the feedback. We have checked our phone records and do see three calls on March 11 all were answered within 11 seconds and were for 9, 5 and 13 minutes in duration. We are happy to know that you were able to get your questions answered and a claim initiated.
We would like to investigate which number you dialed that rang without an answer. We’ve left our contact information on your voicemail so you may share this information.
Should you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact our team at (800) 498-9540.
I didn't know I needed to file a medical claim with my Medicare supplement carrier before Aegis would consider my claim for medical expenses incurred on my trip to South America.
Thank you for taking the time to post your review. The Choice Plan as noted is Secondary in Medical Coverage to your own Primary Medical Insurance (Medicare in your instance). This information is noted on the policy documents you received on the Summary of Benefits, and on page 13 of the Schedule of Benefits. In addition, on the SquareMouth page when comparing the competitors plans, it is noted as well, with a Help Text blurb which describes the difference between Primary and Secondary coverages.
Once your claim is settled with your primary provider, you may submit the balance to be considered for reimbursement through our team of adjusters. We hope this process isn’t too inconvenient & should you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to our team at 800.498.9540. You might be pleased to know that we’re in the process of converting this plan to include Primary Medical coverage which hopefully you’ll consider for your next trip.
Trip cancellation is 100% covered? No, not at all. You need to be up front and not hiding in the fine print what trip cancellation really means. Trafalgar cancelled my trip yet I was not covered.
Like all insurance providers, our claims process is audited for compliance reasons & required to adhere to specific covered reasons outlined in our policy documents. Our Description of Coverage provides a comprehensive list of these reasons, allowing clients to review them both before and after purchasing a plan. This includes the added assurance of a Free Look Period that affords a 100% premium refund if the insured is unhappy with the coverage.
While Grace's cancellation reason did not fall within the covered criteria, we hope she understands that a Tour Operator canceling the excursion due to a lack of signups is not something that nearly any travel insurance policy covers. Thankfully, we were pleased to offer her a policy extension so she can insure a future trip without losing her premium (which is not something all insurers provide). We sincerely appreciate Grace's feedback and value her continued support as a valuable customer.
Squaremouth and Aegis used a loop hole to avoid paying me. When I attempted to address their concerns, they offered me no support or help to get reimbursed. Do not use either of them!
Thank you for your feedback and we’re sorry you were disappointed with the service that was provided. We strive for excellence and accept the opportunity to improve. We note you had contacted our office soon after your trip had commenced, indicating your return flights were canceled and you did not know the reason why. In order to determine possible coverage, the reason for the cancelled flights is necessary. Without this information upfront, you would need to pay out of pocket, and file a claim for reimbursement consideration upon your return.
We did reach out to you to discuss your review and you did advise there was a schedule change that you were not aware of until you checked in for your outbound flight. This affected your return. You had a connecting flight and overnight hotel stay in Lisbon that you did not want to miss, therefore booked new flights. You encountered additional out of pocket expenses for which you would like to be reimbursed. You were advised if you feel you have a valid claim, to forward the supporting documents and we will initiate a claim for consideration. Once these documents are received, we will forward the proof of loss claim forms to continue the process.
Should you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact our team at (855) 277-4587 (Press 2).
