Many Aegis customers appreciate the level of service they receive when they have questions about their coverage or need assistance while traveling. In contrast, other travelers have reported difficulties in obtaining status updates on filed claims.

Getting travel insurance was easy. The people I spoke with were helpful. Fortunately, we did not need to use it. Our travels went smoothly.

    Aegis policy: Go Ready Choice

Fast response with the insurer when I had to correct an error I had made pre-departure. Great price, coverage for only what I needed instead of extras. Squaremouth gave me several good options to choose from, and it was easy to compare the insurers' different coverage plans. I travel international often, and I will always use Squaremouth before I leave.

I did not take the original trip I purchased the policy for, but was able to transfer the policy to a future trip. The customer service person I interacted with was very helpful in making this switch.

I had 2 luggage delays during my trip. One early on and the other towards the end. I have no idea about the status of the first one, which was only ~ $15 but I took time out of my vacation to document and submit a claim so I wouldn't have to deal with it when I got back. No idea what the status is. The second claim we'll see how that one resolves. Interesting you would send a survey at this time. Looking forward to seeing how this all turns out.

    Aegis policy: Go Ready Choice

The policy I purchased with Aegis included a "stress less benefit" wherein if our trip was interrupted or we needed to make emergency arrangements (hotels, new flights due to cancellation, etc), they promised to take care of arrangements for the team and pay for any costs up front. This was one of the reasons I purchased this option. We had trouble on the way back from our trip (EBB-BOI): Brussels Airlines cancelled our flight out of Entebbe and the only other option was 2 DAYS later with KLM. No vouchers or help from Brussels Airlines for food or accommodations for those two days... We stayed in Uganda two extra days and took the KLM flight, with obviously a new itinerary home. The KLM flight had one layover in AMS before making it to SFO and then finally home to BOI. The KLM flight out of AMS had an emergency turnaround and landing over an hour into the flight (we were over the North Sea and told the plane was unsafe to fly over the Atlantic so we had to do an emergency return to Amsterdam). They fixed the plane and we were heading back over the sea a few hours later. This delay (2+ hours) caused us to miss our connecting flight in SFO (it took off before we landed). In SFO I was told to go to the KLM desk to look into rebooking our flight home. They could not book anything because they weren't the *original* airline (i.e., Brussels), but they tried to put some holding spots for some of us on an Alaska flight and sent us to United to see if they could book us sooner. (United was the airline we were going to take from SFO to BOI). United said they could not help us because it wasn't their fault that we missed the flight, but said there were some options the next day. They sent us to Alaska to see if they could give us the tickets that KLM tried holding for us. Alaska could not process the tickets because KLM didn't send the payment (?) through. We ended up going on the United tickets the next day (17 HOURS after our missed flight in SFO). I asked KLM for hotel or food vouchers since it was their fault we missed our United connection (by common carrier delay due to emergency return). They refused.

At that point, I called Aegis' emergency line remembering the policy I'd purchased to see if they could make arrangements for us since the airlines were not. I explained the situation, but the man on the line didn't know what I was referring to with the stress less benefit and told me *they could NOT help me.* He told me to go to Expedia and find my own flights for 9 people (our group size), find a hotel, and food, and submit receipts for everything in a claim later. We were on our own until after we submitted the claim. We book our own hotel on our own dime, paid for meals for the team, and ended up taking the United tickets that left the next morning. At the airport the next morning, another representative calls me from Aegis. I explained what the gentleman told me the night before, and she was SHOCKED. She immediately knew the policy I was talking about and said she would report what happened to her manager. She told me that I was lied to and could not believe he told me those things. They could have and would have helped. She was helpful and of course, since we'd already paid for things and made our own arrangements, she encouraged me to file the claim and explain what happened!

I've been on hundreds of flights in my life but have never had so many bad experiences in one return trip! We landed FOUR days later than we would have with that original Brussels flight. The Aegis representative *on the emergency line* was entirely unhelpful and untruthful (or very unknowledgeable about his work). That was a great disappointment.

    Aegis policy: Go Ready Choice

We called 24 hour emergency assistance when our rental car was in a ditch. They told us our benefits but did not offer any actual what to do now advice or help. No one was hurt and no other vehicle was involved and we had car rental insurance so we had only the towing charge to claim for. We have begun the claim. Chose this rating because I expected more help from the 24 hour line. Even just advice or help calling a toe. Luckily a passerby called the local police who called a tow.

Aegis policy: Go Ready Pandemic Plus

It was easy to add “cancel for any reason” and “pre-existing medical” to the policy. The price difference was very evident.

    Response from Aegis

Thank you for your review! The price difference comes from the added peace of mind these upgrades offer. "Cancel for any reason" gives you the freedom to cancel your trip without needing a specific reason, and the " pre-existing condition waiver" ensures you're covered if health issues arise. These options give extra protection, making them wonderful choices for travelers looking for full protection.
