IMG customers have noted that the customer service is attentive both before and during their trips, especially when they need to modify their policies. Some customers have experienced difficulties with the online claims portal and uploading documents. However, IMG has recently improved its claims process to make it more efficient and transparent for customers.
I was initially going to purchase a different policy, but the agent suggested one that fit my situation better. I appreciated her input.
I had trouble getting consistent accurate information from the people answering their phone. Some people gave me inaccurate information, such as they couldn't take my payment over the phone, where other people did. As I purchased more coverage they did not send follow up emails noting my increase on the policy in a timely fashion and I almost always had to call and ask. One time they were unable to charge my credit card for the payment and failed to notify me, resulting in weeks of me thinking that I had purchased coverage and nothing had been purchased. Just didn't seem to have their act together.

The gentleman was wonderful. He called the Hospital Admin and received clarification of info re the claim he required to follow up on my behalf. Very polite and professional.

IMG took around 3 months from the date of filing to process my claim, and only did so after I contacted customer service twice. Of the claim, they immediately covered most of the transactions, but denied exactly one that comprised 70% of my total claim. They requested credit card statement as the additional proof of payment, and I am yet to hear back from them since I provided it.

My wife became ill while we were traveling in Spain, and she required hospitalization. She had a relapse in Italy, and was seen by a doctor there on two occasions. It was very reassuring when I called your health emergency line on her behalf. We have now returned to the United States after we interrupted our trip, as we were able to fly home directly from Rome to Boston. I am currently completing the forms required for a claim. I have recommended your company, and online purchase of travel insurance, to two friends that will be traveling to Europe this summer. First of all, I am so happy that I found Squaremouth.com online before my wife and I traveled to Europe for 2 months. Using their website I could easily check out about 10 different travel insurance policies that were suitable for seniors on Medicare (I.e., no health insurance coverage while out of the United States). I selected iTravelInsured and off we went. Unfortunately my wife became very sick in Spain, and she was hospitalized. I made several calls to the hotline at iTravelInsured and their representatives were fabulous as regards to giving me advice and making sure that I obtained copies of all medical records and bills from the hospital. Upon our return home I submitted claims for 1) medical expenses and 2) trip interruption benefits due to illness. The medical expenses were processed within a month, and I received payment. The trip interruption required a total of 2 months for settlement. I had to call iTravelInsured about once a week during the second month to keep the process going in a timely manner. I always received friendly service during these calls. On my third call, the agent apologized that it was taking longer than usual and she was ultimately able to expedite the claim. I rate the medical expense claim response as 5 Stars, and the trip interruption claim response as 3 Stars. Thus an overall rating of 4 Stars. A number of my friends covered by Medicare have traveled abroad without getting additional travel insurance. I would not recommend doing that. The premium from iTravelInsured was reasonable, and it also covered air ambulance service if necessary. That alone provided a tremendous peace of mind while I was attending to my wife during her hospitalization.
