Before Trip
The web site stated I would be sent via mail a final policy. It never came and I called. The person I spoke to was not aware that the web site said a policy would be mailed, but sent me a copy via email. Silly, but it would be better to stake this off the web site.

We travel as a family but have different names and maintain separate residences. Just before leaving on this trip we bought insurance for another future trip. On this occasion our different addresses required separate insurances so I was concerned that maybe I had bought the wrong insurance for the trip we were about to take. Called the SQM operator and she assured me we were OK since different insurance companies have different policy requirements.

Trip was uneventful so did not need to contact for help or make a claim.

I was pleased with the speed which the documentation was provided, some came via e-mail and other documents came quickly via US Postal Service.

During Trip
We did not make it to the actual trip to Africa. My wife became very ill with a post surgical infection that was very tenacious and life threatening. Shortly before the trip the doctors concurred that she was still not healthy enough to travel. I called the insurance carrier, they were pleasant and explained the claims process.

Claim Process
The claim was for a large amount, it did require documentation from doctors and of our travel payments we had made. These were reasonable requests by the insurance company. They were always courteous, the claims response was reasonably prompt. I have taken out other insurance coverage for others trips with them since this claim. Very satisfied.

During Trip
We did not have occasion to contact the insurance carrier after we left home on our vacation, but were glad to know it was there and felt confident we would be taken care of if it was needed.
