I managed to recover all my "extra expenses" due to flight cancellations eventually, it took me two goes. I had to get airline declarations and one said "flight cancelled for operational reasons". I filed this and found out that in this circumstance they do not refund the full amount of my rescheduled flights. I had to go back and get a replacement letter explaining the real reason, which was due to weather (very dense fog prevented any flights in or out all day). I filed this replacement letter and the eventually got full reimbursement. It was a chore producing all the paperwork, but I got there in the end, and I got back the costs I wanted.
Very difficult to use your services. Too many hoops to jump through. As an MD I was disappointed in our conversation 10 days ago
Great customer service: I worked w/representative to determine policy for my needs before purchase. I didn’t need my policy, but it was good to know I had coverage at reasonable cost, while out of USA.
Easy to research online to check coverages and exclusions. Purchase and self printing went smoothly. I did contact customer service to add additional coverage and that also was easily accomplished. I got the lowest cost among competitors with the same coverage.
Pending claim handling.
The customer service is excellent. I had to make an adjustment to the policy and they made it a very simple request. Thank you.
I only had one issue and it was prior to my departure. The airline cancelled my flight and booked me on a flight the next day. So, I had to book a hotel and stay an extra day in Lima Peru, which I had not planned. I called to see if square mouth would cover the cost of the night I stayed in the hotel. Of course, they said no, not covered, etc. Not surprised.. there is always a loophole to screw the customer.
I am still waiting for an evaluation on my claim and reimbursement for my loss.
I did ask a question prior to our trip and they were very helpful.
We had to cancel our tour to Costa Rica a few hours before we were scheduled to leave because my husband's mother died suddenly. After cancelling the trip with the tour operator, I immediately called Travel Insured to let them know I would be making a claim for the entire amount of the tour. While I was still on the phone the woman I was speaking to emailed me the claim form with the list of what information I needed to provide to make the claim.
Once I had the death certificate, the final invoice from the tour operator listing date of payment, cancellation and notice of zero refund, and a copy of the credit card payment showing we actually paid the amount I was claiming, I attached Travel Insured's form and a cover letter explaining the circumstances and addressing each item on the list they had emailed me, even if only to state "not applicable". I created a PDF of the claim, emailed it to the address they gave me, and two weeks to the day received a check for the entire amount, almost $7000.
I previously had to make a large claim for reimbursement from another insurer and was paid the full amount. These are insurance companies, so they don't just pay out money based on what you think you should receive. You have to prove actual expenditure of monies. Always keep receipts and understand the terms of the policy you bought. If anything happens, call right away to find out what you are expected to do to have a successful claim.
