The claim was moved to a completed status with no indication it had been accepted or rejected. When I noticed this online, I called them and was told it was marked completed by mistake and the claim was put back on active status. A few days later the check was sent to me. Thus the 4 stars. They were good to work with, but I had to call them to get the claim completed.

Hard to say exactly what is due me to make me whole. It's certainly nothing the insurer did. Rather, both Chase and BofA credit cards were notified of this trip, stressed that I would be using them. Then? I did use them, and both cancelled these cards, leaving me stranded at more than one point. I did eventually make it to my departure point in time to return home, but it was not a pleasant thing to find your transportation was cancelled, and that, more than once. and scrambling about to find a way to make it back took all the fun out of this trip. Neither card company had the means to contact them by email, and the "toll free" number on the back of the cards was next to useless, as so many places do not have international calling capabilities. Welcome to modern China. Yes, I even had to reach out to the US consulate, though I ended up making a withdrawal from my retirement brokerage... not what I wanted to do with my retirement savings. As icing on the cake? chase decided that they should cancel out and put a fraud alert on an Asian dating site I wanted to use to make new contacts as I traveled. Eventually the dating service cancelled my membership (who could blame them?) but it was impossible from the start to get any service from this site: it kept failing to allow me to sign in, so although they are not fraudulent, they were useless. I owe them nothing.
So... where do I start?

As ruined as this trip was? They deny any obligation.
PERHAPS if I had any way of booking a flight out of this disaster, I could have filled in their neat little boxes : sadly this trip was so ruined I couldn't even do that.
And though Squaremouth generously offers to lend a hand in such cases, and is already in possession of the facts, I doubt anything can be effectively accomplished.
Warren Buffet is invested in insurance. His edifying comments express that such companies profits come from the "Float" and not from the sales of policies. And these Investments pay off year after year, even while the sales gross is paid out in claims every year.
Buffet is of course a great investor for this and many other reasons. The insurer in this, my case, has a different model they hope will be successful. And obviously repeat business is not a factor in their minds.
How much does Squaremouth include repeat business in their plans?
Obviously, much of my planned meetings and intentions remain to be done. Luckily I poneyed up for a 10 year China Visa, so understand I've prepared for many more trips there (and elsewhere).
If there is little to be gained by further effort on my part, any less outcome is a waste of time for Squaremouth to address. With nothing further I can add (you already have all information possible) I shall close.

They were fair and responsive about an issue about a change that occurred before I left. For this I/d give 5 stars.
I called with a question aboutmaking a further change on policy coverage, while I was traveling, about a travel change. There was apparently a misunderstanding between me and TI International about some information I had been given before I left about such changes. Ultimately, they were professional and clear but they had promised to get back to me within 24 to 48 hours and it was about 6 days and ONLY because I followed up with them by phone--and that was difficult because I was already abroad..
They were professional and responsive but on my inquiry from abroad I'd give 3-4 stars because of the delay and lack of followup without prompting by me.
I'd recommend them but if you have any special needs, be sure things are clear before you leave.
Exceptional customer service. The full amount of my cancelation claim was paid within 10 days. I will most definitely use this company for my future needs.
My experience with Travel Insured International was good until I needed to use it !
I feel like I am having to jump through hoops in order to file a claim for trip interruption. My primary health care is with Medicare, which everyone knows denies claims for injuries/medical care when you travel outside the United States. However, before I can file a claim with Travel Insured International, I must first file a claim with Medicare and be denied, which according to Medicares web page can take up to six months. Really ?????

The woman who took my call was able to answer all of my questions about coverage both for me and for my daughter whom I was to join in Thailand and with whom I would travel from that point. She was completely knowledgeable and extremely helpful so as to make the process quite simple and painless.
