Our cruise trip was cancelled for Heath reasons. Travel Insurance International responded promptly to our claim and provided a full refund. We have a very positive opinion of Travel Insurance International.
Didn't need them! Thankfully.
Our return flights were cancelled due to weather and I called from Mexico. The woman took my information and put me on hold. Eventually we were disconnected, and although she had my phone number, she did not call back.
After 10 minutes, I called again and spoke with a woman who was able to help me. The woman I initially spoke to was on another call.
I was told she would send me the information needed to make a claim,,, but I have not yet received it. That was 5 days ago.
Policy seemed appropriate. No positive or negative experiences to report.
The insurance was filed for the full amount of the flight, yet was purchased two ways. One ticket was purchased with airline miles from American. The other was purchased with bank points from PNC. American charged us $150 to get our miles back which the insurance covered. PNC had no way to recover the points as they hired a travel agency to purchase the tickets and so both the bank points and the airline tickets were lost because the insurance company would not cover that.
I spoke with their customer service people several times. They were not very kind or friendly. They asked me to send them information that I had already sent, repeatedly. When I called to tell them that they all of a sudden discovered that they had the information.
It took forever to settle this claim.
Myself, wife and 4 nieces/nephews were scheduled to depart for a cruise. I had to file a trip cancellation claim due to my mother-in-law suffering a stroke two weeks before our departure date. The claim process was smooth and painless. Our trip was scheduled for 2/12/16 and we received our claim check on 2/25/16. From now on I will always use Travel Insured International.
Positive experience
I actually did not get to go on my trip to Cuba. The ship owner cancelled the trip and refunded all money. Your customer service representatives were so helpful helping me to transfer the policy to another trip I am planning to Peru in August. Thank you so much for your continued excellence service. I recommend you all the time to friends and family because I have been so pleased.
There were problems with the cruise but according to Customer Service, none of the problems are covered by cruise insurance.
The cruise went from a 12 night cruise to an 11 night cruise. Customer Service said that since the cruise line gave us back $300, we don't have a claim. Didn't I pay for 12 days of cruise insurance?
The ports were all changed. I had not desire to go to the Eastern Caribbean. Again, the agent I spoke to said there's no claim even though I paid a lot of money to go to the Western Caribbean and would not have booked the trip if the ports were the same ones as I did last year.
I was never notified of the change. I believe that I should have received notification of the change, and have been allowed to postpone cruise if I wanted to.
The only official notice I received was in my stateroom on departure.
First I called to get the forms I needed to file out to file a claim. That conversation went very well. Then I called back to get information on how to fill out the Travel Coorinator's Statement. I was having trouble figuring the daily cost when the delay was for less that a day. Once she realized the delay was less that a day, she told me I didn't need to submit the Travel Corrinator's Statement. Now I am waiting to get a report from Princess Cruises showing the delay before I file.
