Before Trip
The big problem I had was with the pre-existing conditions. I started the insurance transaction within the designated time but slipped over the time by only a few minutes because of the time zone change. Therefore I did not get that part of the policy for the same price. Fortunately nothing happened on my trip so it did not matter.
My trip plans started October 1, 2009 and did travel until Oct. 22, 2010. More than a year later. I changed my plans several times before getting things settled. I could have gotten more of the policy when I know exact travel dates. I am glad I did not need them.

It says you must carry the policy with you on your trip. It's several pages to print off. This is not convenient. I called to have policies sent and was told, oh, it's not necessary to have them on your trip. If that is so, do not tell us to take them along.
