There was a 'trip interruption' that caused a cancellation fee on a accommodation. I was not able to be reimbursed for this loss due to the fact that this trip interruption happened before I was on my trip. Why ask when the trip was paid for then? I did assume all expenses were covered. If I didn't go on the trip would it have been reimbursed?
I would warn people about this trip interruption not being covered.

Our flight home was cancelled and delayed by two days. I tried to contact Detour via their emergency contact number to extend our medical only policy. Email request was replied stating it would be reviewed in 2-4 days. Two days after returning home, I received an email stating that no changes to the policy could be made once travel began.
When I called Detour and explained my situation, they were ver friendly and professional. They emailed me the claim form. It was easy to fill out. I attached the documentation it required and sent it. Within a few weeks, I received a check for my claim.
Filing my claim was easy.
I had my refund in less than 2 weeks. Great customer service.
Really appreciated the peace of mind this travel insurance policy gave us while on our trip to Alaska and Canada !!!
I was shocked and amazed at what was covered when my purse was recently stolen in Italy. Lost credit cards, my ATM card, my drivers license, these were worth nothing (after being cancelled). However, I was reimbursed for the full cost of my travel purse and the published limited amount for my cell phone. What I did not expect was full reimbursement for the personal driver I had to hire to drive me 70 miles one day to the nearest US Consulate Office to replace my passport. And all of this settled quickly and without issue. This is the only way to travel with peace of mind.
We had to cancel our cruise to Bermuda with NCL because my husband has pancreatic cancer. Detour ( Nationwide) settled our claim in an efficient and timely fashion.
