Fortunately I did not need to file a claim. However, I chose HTH Travel due to their excellent customer service rating in the event I had to file a claim.
I asked to transfer the policy to the exact same trip scheduled for 2023 since mine was cancelled due to covid. They refused to do this and did refund my money. The problem is it took so long for them to make a decision that I was unable to get the normal pre-existing condition waiver for the trip. Had they told me that it would take months, then I would have simply purchased another policy.
My complaint is simply that they took so long to make a decision.
terrible service when I was abroad. wait time forever and could not speak to anyone, just moved through menu back and forth. God forbid if I had a need for anything urgent from youy guys. I was sorry I made this insurance, what a waste of money.
We are in the process of filing a claim and the easiest and most efficient step thus far was getting the initial information and forms from HTH Travel Insurance. The customer service representative from the claims department was extremely helpful and we received our forms within seconds. The forms are easy to read and understand.

I filed my claim in November and received NO response. I contacted HTH later in November via telephone and they said it could be 3 or more months before they replied due to a high claim volume. I followed up in December via email and they just replied that they had my claim. In February they sent an email asking for more information. I had to go to great lengths to find one additional piece of information which I am sending today. However, the other piece of information has been almost impossible to retrieve due to HTH's long claim review and request for additional information. HTH wanted proof of when the lost and delayed luggage was delivered to my hotel in Taormina, Sicily. When I put in the tracking number (I kept ALL INFORMATION FOR PROOF since I suspected the insurance would try to avoid paying), there is no record at this point. I called DHL Express (Italy) and they told me that they only keep a record for three months and that is why I can't find any information proving that my luggage was delivered at noon on September 24. I remember exactly when my luggage was delivered because September 24 is my birthday and I was hoping to get my luggage or I would have to buy more clothes to go out that night to celebrate my birthday! DHL Express has now put in a request for advance research to see if there is any other way to find records showing when the luggage was delivered to provide to HTH as proof. If they can't find any additional information by 6:00 PM today, then there is no information other than my word. At this point, HTH is at fault for taking so long to examine my claim and ask for more information so they will have to go with my word or it is up to them to prove otherwise. I have been very disappointed with the HTH Travel Insurance Claim process and the delayed timing of the request for information. I would most likely not use this travel insurance company again.
The one question I had after purchasing the policy was quickly answered by an actual person when I called the customer service number.

I tried contacting HTH from Europe and it seemed that I could not get the answers to my questions. I got diagnosed with Covid the day before my return and was trying to find out what the coverage was but no one had answers on the 24 hour line. They gave me a different # to call that I could not reach from Europe. My husband tried to call from the US on my behalf and he could not get answers either.
