Nepal Travel Insurance Requirements
In order to gain entry into Nepal, travelers must provide proof of travel insurance that can cover emergency search, rescue, treatment, and other expenses for the duration of their travel.
Squaremouth’s Nepal Travel Insurance Recommendations
To meet the requirements implemented by the Nepal government, Squaremouth recommends travelers buy a policy with at least $50,000 in Emergency Medical coverage, and at least $100,000 in Medical Evacuation coverage.
Emergency Medical and Medical Evacuation are separate benefits. Emergency Medical can reimburse travelers for the cost of treatment during their trip, such as hospital fees and physician services. Medical Evacuation can cover the cost of an evacuation to the nearest hospital in the event of an emergency.
Travelers who are concerned about losing their prepaid trip payments if they have to cancel their trip to Nepal can cover these costs through a Trip Cancellation policy. Trip Cancellation is designed to reimburse 100% of a traveler’s prepaid and non-refundable trip costs if they need to cancel for a covered reason. The most common covered reason is an illness or injury, and this can typically include not being able to travel because they are sick with Covid-19 or another illness.
