Tin Leg customers praise the provider’s customer service, especially when making changes to their coverage or trip details. However, some have expressed frustration with the claims process, particularly regarding the amount of documentation required.
Squaremouth.com made it easy to compare policies. For my trip, Tinleg was easy to work with and had the best value for what I wanted (high emergency medical and evacuation coverage). I have used Tinleg before after going through Squaremouth.com. However, I have never had to make a claim, so I don't know if they actually provide good insurance. I would strongly recommend relying on reviews of people who have filed a claim rather than people who found the buying experience good but have never filed a claim.
Easy online service. Excell my prices and coverage.
Fortunately, I've never had to use the benefit so I don't know whether it's any good or not
Handled quickly and professionally. Very pleased with service!!
Very easy and speedy process---at first I was put off by the need for a phone call to initiate the claim but it really made things simpler. Have already booked them for another upcoming trip.
The end result was positive; however, I think the process was a bit too long and cumbersome.
I found choosing the insurance was very confusing. I would have preferred it if our travel agent made a couple suggestions, rather than doing what research I did our selves and still not really knowing what we purchased.
Why I chose Tin Leg.... I can't recall now. Just a guess of averages.
My wife was injured on an shore excursion, by a backpack falling out of the overhead storage compartment on a bus onto her head while she seated.
At the time we knew she was injured some but didn't think going to the ships doctor would do anything except to be given pain meds, so we didn't. After getting home she is going to a chiropractor. and she did call Tin Leg about possible coverage and were told that they only cover medical assistance while we were on the trip (within the dates covered).
We feel they should help with the expenses our Medicare and supplement will not cover, but they won't.
What We Found:
You contacted our claims department on 2/8/17 to file a claim.
What We Did About It:
An agent explained to you over the phone on 2/9/17 that the policy is designed to cover medical expenses incurred while traveling and that expenses incurred after you return home are not covered.
Service was friendly and efficient. The claim was resolved quickly.
I think I understood the medical insurance and evacuation parts.
However, I don't know if "trip cancellation" was for "any reason". For instance, I needed a minor surgical procedure just days before our trip. Had this hospital procedure resulted in complications requiring my wife and me not being able to make the trip, would the costs of our trip be refunded through our insurance policy?
Also, if the trip had been cancelled by Holland America, midway through the cruise, would we have received a refund or air travel home?
Thank you,
William Peterson
Ps: The question I had for customer service prior to purchase of the policy was expertly and quickly handled. Thank you.
