Very unhappy with Tin Leg. To date I haven't received a refund or explanation of settlement.
I sent in claim on 8-25-2015. To date I haven't received a refund or explanation of settlement
After one month I sent an email because they had not contacted me in any way to acknowledge receipt of claim.
They claimed to have sent a letter to me on Sept. 22, 2015, to date not received.
I contacted them again and they shot a curt email saying that they are evaluating claim. Really, does it take almost 3 months to evaluate a claim?
I am very dissatisfied with the service of this company.

This was my first time purchasing travel insurance. I have no basis for comparison, and thus responded with middle of the road answers. I had no problems and had no great experiences. In general, my experience shows that insurers are very affable when getting premium payments. The value of the insurer turns on the way it handles claims. As I had no claims, I have no idea if tin leg is good, bad, average, or in a class by itself.
I was very happy with how our interactions with Tin Leg went during our trip. I broke a bone in my foot, and the support and assistance was great. I had somewhat of a difficult time getting someone the first few calls to get assistance, but once we got a competent customer service representative, the service and responses were wonderful. Wesley Smith was incredible. He was prompt, thorough, and helpful in all of our interactions. He booked the flight upgrade for me, and he was clear and prompt in all of our communications. From letting us know what we needed to do to assisting us with getting our expenses reimbursed, we were happy with our service. Thank you. I will use the insurance again when we travel!
The policy coverage was fine for us.
I gave it the rating I did because I thought it was a good value for the money, but not that much better than others offering similar coverage.
The on-line process allowed a very easy shopping for insurance experience. I saved over $200 after using the policy comparison procedure. My travel broker's insurance policy offerings were more expensive than three of the Squaremouth quotes I used for comparison. I highly recommend the Squaremouth website.
Because I did not need to file a claim, I can't make any conclusions regarding ease of making a claim.
Cancellation for reasons of illness was expeditiously handled once forms were submitted.
Filed claim 9-11-15. Followed up 9-30-15 when did not get notification that it had been received. Spoke to Amanda and was told claim was there and in review should hear in 2-3 weeks. It is now almost 4 weeks later and have not heard from anyone except for this request to review the quality of your service. Irma Mottley
Great service but I don't like how rates vary with age. We travel with another couple who pay much less because she is 10 years younger.
The only thing I had confusion on prior to the trip was finding the link with my policy info. The email I received had so many links it was tough to find the right one. Otherwise, the whole process was great, and so far with my claim the customer service has been very friendly and helpful.
After one month without any response I contacted them and was advised that I needed the medical statement signed by my physician. They also indicated my documentation from VBT was inadequate since it had the refund documented in pencil.
I sent the additional documentation request to my MD and the VBT information to the ins 10/8/15 and awaiting their reply.
I am awaiting the outcome for a rating.
