IMG customers have noted that the customer service is attentive both before and during their trips, especially when they need to modify their policies. Some customers have experienced difficulties with the online claims portal and uploading documents. However, IMG has recently improved its claims process to make it more efficient and transparent for customers.

The initial purchasing of the policy was very easy and the agent I worked with was wonderful. When I got to the final purchase of the policy the process was rocky and the assistance I received a little frustrating especially being a first time user. I all worked out in the long run but, I wanted to be honest that the second phase was not as good as the first.

IMG's form for a claim is very time consuming and difficult. It does not give you enough options to fill out the form properly.

I submitted my claim, and within a few days I had a return email stating that my claim had been accepted. The funds were transferred directly to my bank account within about a week. I've never had to make a claim with travel insurance before, but I've heard enough horror stories from friends and family to know that this transaction was the exception. Filing the claim online was easy, instructions were clear, and they held to the timeline they promised. I'll definitely purchase travel insurance through IMG again in the future.

This is a comment on Squaremouth. I like the way Squaremouth allows me to compare the coverages of different insurance policies. However, Squaremouth's listings does not provide one key piece of information. It does not list the limit to the amount of trip costs that can be insured on each policy.

Here is an example from my own experience. My initial deposit on a tour was $5,000. Using Squaremouth, I purchased the IMG Itravelinsured Choice policy insuring my initial trip cost of $5,000. Later costs--such as final tour payment, airline fees, hotels, etc.--brought the trip costs to about $60,000. When I attempted to add those trip costs to the IMG Choice policy, I found that it limits insurable trip costs to $20,000. Fortunately, after a good deal to time and effort, IMG allowed me to upgrade to their SE policy which allowed me to insure the entire amount. Had I known about the Choice policy's $20,000 limit, I would have bought the SE policy at the outset.

The insurable limit is clearly listed on IMG's website, but it is not found in Squaremouth's listing. Squaremouth should add the insurable limits to its listings.

The claim process has been pretty good BUT, but they needed more information and did not tell me that all at once. Asked me to submit one item. When that was submitted, asked for another and then another. All the items could have been asked for at once. Unfortunately, it delayed the refund, which I have yet to receive. On the positive side, communication was good, letting me know that forms were received.

We heard today that the "check's in the mail" for our requested reimbursement for medical expenses on our cruise. The claim form were easy to complete, easy to attach documentation, and it appears that the reimbursement check is in the mail. All very satisfactory. Thank you.

I have purchased a lot of trip insurance through your agency. This is the first time I have had a claim. I never go the cheapest because I want a better experience. My issue falls back on me and is totally my fault. I always copy the contract and again expect the top companies to be fair. I booked a policy for my girlfriend and my sell at a cost of a title over $2000 for the two. It was for a trip from December 12 for two days in San Juan and the departing on the 14th of December to Jan 3rd on Seabourn and ending in Barbados. The 3rd while on an excursion that was going to deliver me to the airport I was notified that because of the US closing the airspace in the Caribbean American Airlines was canceling my flight and the earliest they could get me on a flight was the 11th. Scrambling I found hotels to accommodate me. I had to book two different hotels due to available rooms in season in Barbados. 5 cruise ships dropped people that day and all the people looking to get home made it tough. Long story short I wound up with 8 days and a bill off $7316.57.I filed a claim and sent all the info. Today I got an email saying that they were covering $1250 per person as per their contract. $125 a day per person! This may be industry standard but absolutely crazy. Where can two people stay anywhere for a day for $250 including meals.Especially in the Caribbean in season or Europe.I assumed that the more expensive companies would have good coverage. My mistake I am sure an 8 day delay is unusual.Anyway I am in the process of looking for insurance for two trips to Europe this year and will shop every insurance group to make sure that I get the best reasonable coverage for my money. I plan on filing an appeal with the company but expect that it won’t go far . Depending on the outcome I will turn to the internet to make sure people are aware of the low coverages that they will deal with and not to assume that they are getting better coverage by paying more and going with the bigger well know companies.
