IMG has nine policies on Squaremouth, including ‘cancellation-only’ and ‘medical-only’ options. They offer some of the best Travel Delay and Emergency Medical coverage available, with certain plans providing up to $2,000,000 in medical protection.
See how IMG compares to other providers on Squaremouth in customer satisfaction and service quality:
*The overall customer rating is the average of all reviews for the provider since they joined the marketplace.
IMG customers have noted that the customer service is attentive both before and during their trips, especially when they need to modify their policies. Some customers have experienced difficulties with the online claims portal and uploading documents. However, IMG has recently improved its claims process to make it more efficient and transparent for customers.
All went well and the peace of mind was priceless.
Had to speak to a number of representatives before my question could be answered. One rep cut me off the phone.
We were satisfied both with the outcome -- almost all our claim was approved and an adequate explanation given for the small part that was not -- and also with how well IMG kept us informed of what it wanted us to provide and the receipt of all provided information. But the claims process was overly difficult to the point of approaching obstructive in three regards:
1. My wife tested positive for Covid the day before we were to embark on the tour; and we when first made the insurance claim we supplied from her MyChart web account my wife's entire report and notes from her medical provider affirming by separate and proctored testing the Covid diagnosis, its treatment, and the consequent recovery and travel restrictions imposed by the illness. Despite the completeness of these documents, IMG came back requiring the completion of IMG's own medical form specifically attesting that she should not travel even though the originally submitted medical report clearly did the same. The IMG-form requirement, made known a couple weeks after our original claim, engendered an additional delay in securing the hand-written completion of that form by the provider.
2. In our view, the later requirement to provide a specific attestation on an IMG medical form that my wife's doctor declared that medically she should not travel was unnecessarily redundant and unduly delayed the approval of our claim. For in our very first submission, we supplied the rules of our tour provider which clearly forbade tour participation by anyone who tested positive within 10 days before the beginning of the tour, our situation being the very day before. Moreover, we additionally supplied the website advice of the U.S. Embassy for the country (Greece) that we were visiting clearly stating that Greece then mandated a five-day hotel quarantine of a visitor testing positive for Covid. Either reason, independent from my wife's physician's findings and dictates, whether or not found on an IMG physician's statement form, was sufficient reason to demonstrate that we could not proceed with the tour.
3. Finally, part of our tour was paid for by a credit that we had with the tour provider which was specifically identified as stemming from a provider-cancelled travel some three years prior when the Covid pandemic first shut down all tourist travel. Even though logically it should not have mattered why we enjoyed this credit -- whether, for example, as a gift from another or as a customer service gesture by the tour provider separate from any refund -- IMG required us not only to prove that the prior tour had been cancelled but also to further demonstrate either by check or credit card statement that we had paid for all the cancelled tour from which came the subject credit, implying that absent such proof this part of the insurance claim might not be granted. After some difficulty in resurrecting three-year old booking and credit card statements for that cancelled travel, we were able to meet this demand. But it was facially unnecessary to do so because it should not have mattered why we enjoyed this credit which covered a substantial portion of the actual cost of our 2023 trip. However obtained, the credit was a cash equivalent which should have been reimbursed without more.
The bottom line, in essence, was a fully granted insurance claim obtained with both unnecessary travail and delay.
First Time purchasing a Travel Insurance Policy but must say IMG came as a blessing in disguise . My mother got quite ill the very next day after landing in Mumbai . We did not even have the time for a breather , forget settling in a country seas across . I just acted per the local availability for her treatment . But IMG approved that claim right away . During hardships survival is the first thought and priority , but to have a financial coverage/ backing does offer great deal of solace.
And to add to the existing illness , the unfortunate calamity in Turkey put me into a lot of deliberation and stress in regards to the very long layover with my mother and unpredictable circumstances in that country .
My travel agency was giving me such a hard time with ticket change. But I still made that choice for our safety and good health without expecting a claim refund
In fact made every effort at my end to reach out to IMG to get an understanding of the policy and each time the agents were very detailed and helpful
All is well that end well . We are back home safe and sound , but the back end support, even if remote , that I received from IMG and the seamless claim approvals truly helped a distressed hear and Thank you is not enough but deep gratitude from the bottom of my heart
Sincerely,
Shabina Patel
I couldn't give very real score because I didn't get covin.
But I call IMG once. thay have patient and answer not slowly.
I will still buy it if I need it next time.
Good customer service
Had to submit some of the same information twice to get the claim processed. Also, my final claim settlement did not reflect all items I submitted and the customer service rep did not know how to fix it. She passed a message to her supervisor and that supervisor left a VM that did not relate to my problem. In the end, I was paid the correct amount so hence the 4 star review. Claims and customer service need more training.
Easy to set up and modify as needed prior to starting vacation.
The claim form is long and often unclear. For delayed luggage, if I'm getting $250 pp, why do I need to list every item I bought, when and where it was purchased, it's cost and provide original receipts?
Your rep hung up on me when I asked if there was an alternative to my providing all my banking information, including account and routing numbers.
The next rep I talked with, child crying in the background, told me to check the domestic wire transfer box in order to get a paper check. I doubted those instructions and wrote my request in the special instructions. I hope a reasonable rep will call if they have questions.
IMG refused to cover losses in full. However, according to the policy it should be covered. The communications take a long time to respond if at all.
