*The overall customer rating is the average of all reviews for the provider since they joined the marketplace.
Berkshire Hathaway customers find customer service agents helpful and easy to reach. While the provider has an efficient claims process, some customers report frustration with the communication and clarity while waiting for reimbursement.
I know travel insurance is a scam, but I wanted to have some protection in the worst case scenario, not expecting my entire town to burn down while I was gone. This insurance would only reimburse my nominal expenses *if I could prove to them that my own house was COMPLETELY lost in the natural disaster* they will reimburse me to help me get home. I had to cancel plants to get home to evaluate the damage. And the pandemic made that near impossible. This insurance is a complete waste of time and money. Never ever again
The claim process was somewhat confusing however it was only filed a week ago so I will see how the process continues.
The policy was more restrictive than we anticipated. We would have considered cancelling the trip due to significantly altered COVID restrictions in the country visited, but were told that wasn't covered. I do not think we would purchase again.
Due to covid lock down we had to change our travel date. Berkshire quote to change date was more expensive than the original price, so didn't change it. May not use Berkshire again
I filed a claim they have not heard a word
One star for question "Please rate your experience with Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection during your trip" because I never went on the trip and n/a was unavailable.
I had to cancel my trip because my son was exposed to Covid and then he ended up getting it. I was told that the policy only covers us if we actually go on the trip and then he gets covid. Is that correct? I thought that I was buying a policy that protected me from loss due to covid in general. Please adivse and thanks.
You guys work so hard to find any reason to deny claims.
What the purpose then of having insurance if you give the customers the run around ??
I went on my trip as planned to South Africa, Botswana, Namibia and Zambia. I've had a great trip and just am planning to stay a bit longer to avoid traveling during a busy time of the year with the recent surge, because we are quite safe where we are located in South Africa.
My only disappointment was not being able to extend my policy, because I missed the deadline.
I plan to file a claim for some medical issues that arose, but nothing as serious as COVID fortunately.
Thank you,
Marc Romanelli
too long of a wait to talk to someone at Berkshire Hathaway - but once I finally was able to speak to a human, my questions were answered.
