I believe I was entitled to a small reimbursement for trip interruption due to a Covid requirement but the adjuster said Aruba did not have a quarantine in place but I did provide the letter from them requiring a 24 hour quarantine. Just not satisfied with Berkshire Hathaway.
My praise is for Jody Bittner of Squaremouth. Due to lack of participation, my trip never went. Berkshire Hathaway said they would only bank my premium for 2 years, not give me a refund. I was not happy with this response. I reached out to Squaremouth. Jody responded and said he would contact the insurer. after 3 weeks of him trying to get an answer from them, I received an email from Berkshire Hathaway that they would refund my premium. In a week, I received a check for my full premium. Thank you again, Jody, for helping me to the desired outcome. Squaremouth, you get 6 stars out of 5!
I extended our coverage, trip delayed till 2/22. They made me pay more to extend, no one with travel guard had to pay so in the future Travel Gaurd only. I would not recommend any of this.
Since we could not go due to COVID restrictions, we rescheduled the trip. We called BHTP to see what could be done to cancel or reschedule the insurance coverage. We were told that it could be extended to cover our rescheduled trip, but it would involve an extra charge. In the end the extra charge amounted to about 75% of the initial policy cost. So in total we paid $496 for a trip that was initially $284, for the coverage we needed, then increased when the dates of the trip were changed. Somehow this seemed excessive, but it also seemed that we had no other choice. In these COVID times, air fares and hotels are allowing penalty free reschedules, but not insurance I guess.
The cruise line cancelled my cruise. I have transferred this policy to another future cruise for September, 2021.
