    Rating contingent on adequate handling of my claim. Our bagged arrival to our destination in Italy was delayed roughly 4 days. We had to purchase clothes and toiletries in the meantime.

    I was impressed every stage of the way. They provided triage nurse/physicians over the phone immediately, when we needed in-person visit for prescriptions and the cost of the, they covered the visits and medication conveniently and quickly through their online forms. Highly recommend and will now purchase BH insurance every time we travel!

    Flight was delayed, we got home 11 hours later. Hotel bill denied because they focus on 41 min delta delay and not on the traveling group delay

    We had med injury during the trip which required visit to local ER. We received treatment and paid the medical bill locally. We are back home now and had just filed a claim to Birkshire Hathaway travel insurance for reimbursement of the ER visit, pharmacy and medical supply purchases. Waiting to see if Berkshire Hathaway Travel Ins we purchased prior to trip will help us with the unexpected medical cost during trip. Thank you.

    I was unable to travel to Portugal for my horsebackriding tour. In preparation for the tour, I was riding everyday for two-three hours a day for 5 days. On the 5th day I started having severe pain in my right foot and then on the following day my left hip and both of my knees were painful. This has lasted several days up to and including the present. Due to my age, I felt that with any further riding i could and would most likely exacerbate the problem and further compromise my health so regretfully I decided to cancel my trip. I have seen a physician with regards to my foot and have an appointment scheduled for March 4 for evaluation of my hip and knees. That being said, I am hoping that I can recover the money I put into this trip.

    Stay away from Beskshire hathaway Travel Insurance. I bought travel insurance from squaremouth which was easy and picked BH because of their reputation being a Warren Buffet company - or so I thought. It seems the billions that Warren Buffet makes, is from cheating people.
    I bought a Comprehensive policy to cover all possibilities. I went to Iceland Christmas time (dec 23-Jan 2, 2025) and had an VRBO appartment lodging reservation for $1600 and change. After arriving in Iceland and getting a rental car I got a text message that my reservation was cancelled. Initially they did not want to say why, however they said later it was because the appartment was not inhabitable because of a major water pipe broke in and it was not fixable until weeks later. We had to pull over in the rain and spent hours in the car discussing this issue with vrbo, expedia, and other lodging companies. We had nowhere to go. It took us hours and a lot of roaming fees (we realized later) to find an acceptable new lodging that was much more expensive (last minute Christmas time).
    BH travel Insurance declined my claim for "trip interruption" saying this was an "inconvenience" and broken pipe is not a covered encounter. How can anyone predict anything it could happen in a trip? This is why I bought insurance. If luggage being delayed for 3 hours is a trip interruption, why is being denied entry in the building you reserved (regardless of the reason) and spending 3-4 hours in the rain inside a car trying to reserve something at Christmas time not a stressful trip interruption??? I am sure it is. The reason for which I was denied entry is irrelevant. Could have been snakes inside and they will still would say it is not a covered event, I am sure now.
    Please do not let them get away with this. It is outrageous. It can happen to you and anyone!
    Stay away from BH Travel "Insurance". This not insurance, it's a setup to steal your money!

    Hi Calin, we’re sorry to hear that your trip was interrupted and understand how frustrating this experience has been. Unfortunately, this is a situation that would fall outside of most travel insurance coverage, regardless of the carrier. Often the proprietor will transition a guest to another unit they own or cover the cost of an alternative location when they are unable to fulfill their contract. As such, we design our plans to provide coverage for the common interruption and delay reasons a traveler may experience. Doing so allows us to keep the rates affordable and still provide coverage in most situations. I know that isn’t much help to you here, but it may be worth reviewing your contract with your lodging provider to see if there is any compensation available. We hope you’ll give us another try in the future and wish you safe travels!

    My minor claim was denied. The process has so many hoops to jump through. The documentation required is excessive and makes it very difficult to final a simple claim. Demanding a physician visit for any health issue for cancellation is not appropriate. Getting a simple viral infection which prevents travel does not need a physician visit---especially when one of the travelers is a physician. Basically, I felt the process makes it near impossible to get approved and very easy to deny
