    A waste of my money to buy your travel insurance. My wife became ill with the flu and we had to cancel our entire trip. Because my wife didn't see a doctor and wasn't able to produce a report from the doctor with regards to her illness, I am being denied payment to settle my claim. A total loss of money, including your fee for the useless insurance you sold to me.

The plan you purchased does specify that an illness needs to be diagnosed or treated by a Physician. We do offer other plans where you are able to Cancel for Any Reason, should you be interested in that option in the future. We hope your wife is feeling better and wish you safe travels.

We always strive to process claims as quickly as possible and, to properly set expectations, we include our current processing timeframes in our requests for documentation – in this case 15 business days. In reviewing your claim file, we can confirm that your claim was opened on January 27th and we received your supporting documentation on January 28th. Based on those dates we would expect your claim to be fully processed by February 18th. We apologize if this timeframe seems long, but it ensures that we can fully review all aspects of your claim and reach the most accurate determination.     Process to enter claim was straightforward. Processing took a little longer than hoped. Claim was only partially approved, which was somewhat disappointing.

    From past experience with BH travel insurance, I was frustrated that despite sending ALL the required documents online with the claim, they still requested some of the same documents in an email that I had already uploaded online. It appeared that the claim processors were not looking carefully at all the documentation that was provided and just delaying the claim unnecessarily.

    I have bought many travel insurance policies over the years. Usually, there is no reason for a claim. But, the true test of a company is what they do when you have a real situation. I had a long travel delay (over 8 hours in a Bogota airport) because of a missed connection. I submitted proof of the delay and copies of my receipts showing purchase of food, water, etc. It was a $75 claim in all. But, the receipts were in Colombian Pesos. Berkshire processed my claim within a reasonable time and reimbursed all but $6 of my claim. I felt that was a satisfactory resolution to it and am pleased that they took care of the expenditures resulting from my delay.

    Overall: I would recommend them and buy another policy from Berkshire.
