I called Generali before our trip because I had purchased trip cancellation, yet the plane tickets I included in the coverage were refundable until time of departure. When I asked the GGA rep about whether the airfare coverage was necessary, the rep talked in general terms about it, but didn't really give any information that helped me make a decision of whether to keep the tickets on the policy or not (I was afraid if we dropped that part, the return home might not be covered). I didn't make any changes.
A day later, I called Squaremouth to ask the same question, and the Customer service rep told me that I could purchase a policy without trip cancellation, only trip interruption. I saw several companies on Squaremouth that offered trip interruption, and it would have saved a few hundred dollars. However, our trip was just a couple of days away and we got busy, and then we were afraid of trying to change the insurance out of fear we might end up with nothing.
In the end, we didn't make a claim, so we paid more than we really needed to, but that's how it goes sometimes.
It is possible that GGA doesn't have trip interruption only - I didn't try to find out. I gave 4 stars because the GGA customer service rep was pleasant and tried to understand what I wanted, but he never offered just trip interruption. So either he didn't know about trip interruption only (either because it didn't exist, or he wasn't knowledgeable), or he didn't understand what I wanted (yet Squaremouth did).

I had contacted General Global Assistance prior leaving on my trip, when I noticed my name was misspelled. I contacted them and the rep was very helpful and polite, I had explained that I did not want the misspelling to be an issue should I need to make a claim. She reassured me that it would not have been an issue, made the correction and emailed the corrected documents.
There were three couples on this trip, we all purchased the same trip insurance and I believe we will all be returning customers on future trips.
Had no problems with my claim. Everything went very smoothly
Although we have purchased travel insurance many times, this was the first time we have had to file a claim (we had to file for trip cancellation due to a serious medical emergency before the start of the trip). I had some trepidation about the process, but it was a very positive experience. I filed online, was asked to provide a reasonable amount of supporting documents, and the claim was approved and paid a couple of days later. I would certainly purchase travel insurance again from Generali Global Assistance.
They we’re extremely helpful and caring. I had a totally unexpected medical emergency that prevented us from making the trip that is covered by the policy.
I feel we were dealt with honestly with compassion and caring.

Filing the claim for Cancelation Insurance was easy, documentation requirements were clear, and we were able to provide everything. Claim was paid in full within 2 weeks of initial filing.
