    Very dissatisfied!!! My accident was 3 months ago in Mexico. I had to pay a Mexican doctor for treatment and then had treatment the next day in the USA. My primary insurance of Medicare does not cover international medical care, which is why I bought short term care from Generali.
    I sent General all my documentation and more (probably violating my own HIPPA privacy). They refuse to pay until I submit my bill from the Mexican doctor to my Medicare insurance. This is stupid because my Medicare will reject my claim. Then I will have to send that rejection to Generali. This step should be bypassed knowing I won’t get my Medicare to pay. I’ve already waited 3 months for my Medicare bills (EOB) to arrive for my medical bills in the USA. Now, it will probably be months again to settle this and pay off my credit card for the doctor in Mexico. (It was under $400).
    My primary Medicare in the USA paid the $10,000 bill for the emergency room visit and X-RAYS. I won’t be recommending Generali in my review. Thank you.

    Generali Global Assistance policy: Standard

    I submitted my claim 12/029/23. I was asked to upload alot of documents, I did not think all of that was necessary. Generali requires a "release of medical" form to be filled out by the patient, the reciept from the Emergency Department should be sufficent. I have not had any communicaions with Generali since filing my claim. I have since rebooked my trip, now I am out "double" the money as I have not been reimbursed yet by Generali. I will follow up today via phone, 01/09/2023.

    I had a question about a policy and purchasing the policy. I called in the late evening and I didn't have to wait to speak with a representative. The company representative was very pleasant and knowledgeable and assisted me in purchasing the policy.

    The Generali customer service number is worthless. I couldn't get a human being or get my question answered.
    And the policy did not cover the cost of a necessary flight change when the trip provider cancelled a portion of the trip.

    My experience has been horrible. I was scheduled to travel on Oct. 21. On October 19 I was transported by ambulance to the hospital with a total heart blockage, requiring two nights in hospital and a pacemaker. Obviously, I could not travel on the 21st, as scheduled, as I was literally in-patient. I filed a claim with Generali Global Assistance. I provided medical documentation, a release to contact the provider and hospital and everything else requested. I have not received payment, get endless voicemail when I try to call, get referred to the portal when I email where I find an indication that my case is closed, without explanation. I have not been paid.

    I have filed a complaint with the NYS Department of Financial Services.

    I am thoroughly disgusted and appreciate any help you can provide.

    I had what should have been an extremely easy claim to resolve. I was literally in the hospital for a total heart blockage the day my flight was scheduled to leave. (The flight was actually cancelled and rescheduled due to a hurricane, but I had cancelled prior as I was hospitalized and realized I could not travel.) I got Generali all the necessary documentation from the doctor and hospital. Still, it took over two months and the threat (sent registered mail) that I would contact my state insurance commissioner before I was paid. The only explanation I ever got for the delay was that "the person handling my claim had left the company." I will never use Generali again.

    I provided copies online of a few documents supporting the claim, and they paid it within hours with no further conversation. The true test of insurance is in claims processing, and they came through.
