I thought I was going to have a delay that would require either getting stuck overnight in an airport or having to book another flight. I called the 24 hr assistance and was told (what *I* know already) that I would have to pay for any changes / hotel stays, etc "out of my own pocket" and apply for a claim after the trip.
I think this should be highlighted in all the insurance policies where it applies so that for us confused, stranded, stressed policy holders we aren't tied up in a long conversation getting this explained to us.

So far I am NOT impressed w/ Generali Global Assistance. When we were heading to our cruise from Richmond VA, our Delta flight had numerous delays leading to a great deal of stress trying to get to our cruise ship departing out of Boston.
I called the Generali help line and the guy on the phone said there was nothing they could do until I had 10 hours of delay??! And that no one is available except for M-F?! Extremely disappointing when I thought I purchased a policy that would have a company help me with travel issues?
I had to purchase a one way "same day" Jet Blue flight for 2 in order to get us to Boston in time for our cruise. I filed a Trip Interruption/Delay claim on 10/20/23 and have not received ANY communication from them re: status of my claim.

The on line claim process has a glitch that I could not get through. The CS agent referred me to a help@ address but I got a not very helpful pre made email and no sign of someone calling me back to remedy this.
With insurance policies, all that matter are the ease and customer service when making a claim, the rest is just irrelevant fluff.
Then they ask if they can contact me in 4 weeks to review my claim knowing that my claim is not complete, ignoring that I am having trouble competing it which is a website glitch on their end.

My claim was complicated - it wasn’t a simple cancellation (like I had previously and Generali was great on that one too). Our trip WOULD have been delayed a day by a last minute AirIndia change, but we were able to secure tickets on another airline - for more money. So we were able to avoid the delay. I wasn’t sure if this qualified but Generali reimbursed me. Will never use another insurance company - in fact our next trip is already insured with Generali.

I tried to file a claim - their on-line claims module failed miserably. It kept rejecting my UN and PW, even though I was logged in and using the same credentials, as required, for the claims site. I contacted them on text - phone number said use the on-line module - the text person couldn't help, they said use the on-line module that DOESN'T WORK! This feels like it is designed to discourage filing a claim.
The person in the chat was nothing short of rude and uncooperative. I asked that my request be escalated and never got a response.
Purchasing through Squaremouth has always been easy - this company, Generali, is proving to be a terrible choice.
The claim I wanted to file was for a broken tooth - happened near the end of our trip. We were traveling in a remote region, no access to a computer. So I waited until we got home. We also missed a connection in Amsterdam and got home so late that the usual bus we take from the airport was not running - they stop running at midnight. It cost us $185 to take an Uber. Usual price for the bus is $9 each. We are filing 2 claims.

I thought our claim was resolved fairly quickly, although it took just over 3 weeks from submission to receipt of checks from Generali. I thought the process was hassle-free and we would consider their products/services for future international travels.

I was able to get through to a live agent today! Wanted to file claim on losing my Japan Rail pass and having to purchase tickets, but they said it was not covered. It is human error. Wish it was covered.
