I insured my stay at Kaanapali Alii resort on West Maui from August 22-September 1. Because of the fires, the trip was not possible. The resort has been closed since August 8 and the website says operations are still suspended. I have submitted a claim to Generali but have not yet been reimbursed. It seems early to submit a complaint but your help to move it on would be appreciated.

I found it difficult to speak to a representative directly. When I finally did reach someone, and asked to add additional days to the coverage, it was done, but I had the feeling that the rep felt they were doing me a big favor.
Thankfully, I did not have to utilize the coverage, which I imagine is the case with most travelers. This raises the question as to why the coverage is so expensive.

After reviewing the documents needed to file a claim, I determined that my time was worth more than the $75 food reimbursement.
My deductible for my homeowners policy is $2,500, so I could not file a claim for $200, so that piece could not be claimed.
Please cancel claim.

Our flight was cancelled and was not available for rescheduling for 2 days so we rented a car and drove. It cost 116.00 The amount of paperwork required to file a claim was not worth my time. Way too much.

Note that I did not interact with Generali before departure, but it requires that I rate it.
I came down with COVID while on my group tour & had to drop out, isolate, and reschedule my return flights. I contacted Generali’s 24-hour assistance, who helped me try to find a more cost effective hotel in which to isolate. However, Halifax is extremely expensive and all the hotels were at least as expensive as the one I was in. I talked to their Customer Service team, but did not get answers as clear as I would have liked. I’m still waiting for some documentation from my travel provider before filing a claim. I’m hoping the claim is accepted and paid, but I’m not at all sure it will be. The rules and process WRT COVID are very confusing right now and are very nebulous for all concerned.
Note that I had a similar occurrence, with COVID, in April 2021 while in Botswana. That time I had a Berkshire Hathaway Exact Care Value policy, and I was very impressed with their customer service, both while I was on travel and when filing the claim. They paid in full, without any hassle or contest, which I found very impressive. Unfortunately, with the long delay, I did not write a review at that time, so I thought I’d let you know now.
