it took my calling Generali after about six weeks of no updates to get them to look at my claim. I also felt that I had provided sufficient information, however when I called Squaremouth, I was able to obtain a list of additional items they needed. Once I submitted these, the claim was handled. My biggest problem was the amount of time it took for the claim to be processed.
My wife and I went on a 6 week vacation to Europe and Iceland. Three weeks into the trip we both got Covid and were quite ill. We tried to contact Generali for medical assistance several times by phone but we were scheduled on trains every 1-2 days so if we would leave a number we never got a return call. We tried to get medical help in Italy but the small town we were in had no resources that we could use. We would have just come home if we could be advised on how to make arrangements. We were just able to travel by train to get to our next destination but weren't able to enjoy the remainder of the trip at all. Our cell phones didn't work in Europe or Iceland. It would have been very useful if we could have communicated either on WhatsApp or by email to get the information we needed. Medical help would have been extremely useful as we are still suffering from pleurisy yet while we are finally home.
I have used Generali in the past and for an upcoming trip yet and have found them to be very fair. I have never had to contact them during a trip so I never thought about how to communicate. This is something I will have to prepare for better in the future from my end.

My 5-star rating comes from the excellent assistance I received from Squaremouth’s zero complaint policy/team. When Generali Global denied my claim, I called Squaremouth where a representative immediately opened a claim for me. The claims adjuster who helped me was excellent. My appeal was expedited at her request and a full refund was issued. I believe Squaremouth resolved this issue for me when it wouldn’t have been otherwise. In the future, I will always buy travel insurance using Squaremouth.

The process of filing a claim with Generali was extremely slow and many times I was asked to provide certain info that I gave a week prior.
I actually didn't make a claim because the airlines paid for all the out-of-pocket expenses due to their problems.
Found it very difficult to upload and complete the claim on line.

Very prompt handling, little disappointed in the caps on reimbursement for hotel and meal, i.e. not reimbursed entirely, but still glad I bought the coverage in these unstable travel times.
